As a Senior UX Writer, you know that language is fundamental to great digital design. At Sainsbury’s we know that too. That’s why you’ll work across all our brands, with the freedom to focus on what can make the most difference for customers.

You’ll be obsessive about plain English and usability, so we give you the tools to make sure you’re answering user needs – whether that’s running your own remote usability studies or jumping into Figma to edit prototypes. You’ll be a key voice in cross-functional teams, partnering with Experience Designers, Researchers, End-to-End Designers and Engineers. And you’ll work on ground-breaking new projects that combine physical and digital shopping.

The UX writing team is small but mighty, so a key part of the role will be scaling your impact. You’ll own the copy guidelines on the Luna design system, and as an ambassador for UX writing, you’ll upskill and inspire others in the team with training and talks. 

This is a role for someone curious, adaptable, and above all, single-minded about designing amazing customer experiences.

What you need to do

• Understand the strategy and vision of Group Digital and provide insight and direction for future Experience Design innovation
• Champion the customer through testing and validating all UX copy including feedback from customers, colleagues,  Marketing, Product Managers, and product feedback mechanisms.
• Facilitate and run workshops with other experience design team members to create storytelling and copywriting approaches
• Write and edit digital content to the brand required standards for Voice, Style & Tone.
• Own, maintain and contribute to the Voice and Tone style guide within the broader experience design guidelines.
• Craft UX copy to create intuitive, accessible experiences interface
• Clearly communicate content development rationale and processes to project team members.
• Liaise with the Legal department to ensure all written formats are meeting pre-defined company requirements

What you need to know and show

• Bachelors’ degree in Technical communications, English or journalism
• An outstanding portfolio of UX copy work
• Proven track record of generating, maintaining and developing UX copy
• Excellent interaction skills
• Ability to work autonomously
• High level of understanding of experience design processes
• Experience of working with web content management tools
