The opportunity

Due to the extraordinary scale of investment in the Transport for NSW Future Transport strategy we have an opportunity for a Senior Technical Manager to join the Greater Sydney Program Delivery team within Planning and Programs on a temporary basis till June 2023.

Reporting to the Director Technology Programs, the role plays the part of ‘subject matter expert’ providing technical assurance within established governance framework and leads ‘Technical & Technology Risk Management’ functions for a number of Smart Technology Network Programs. Provide specialist engineering advice and carry out technical due diligence for successful development and delivery of the Programs.

Key accountabilities of the role include:

• Act as a thought leader, remaining abreast of current and emerging Transport Technologies and trends, including domestic and international best practice, innovative approaches, and opportunities to support the achievements of the business objectives
• Deliver assigned technology projects through the agreed project management methodology while complying with established governance and reporting requirements.
• Provide technology advice to new and inflight projects on existing technology solutions and recommend opportunities for innovation and improvements
• Prepare and deliver technology reporting requirements, status updates and issues to mandatory governance forums to inform key decision making
• Motivate, inspire and empower the development of positive, inclusive and engaged project teams to focus on efficient delivery of outcomes.

You are a trusted advisor and an advocate for good design. You are a collaborative and agile self-starter who is used to meeting tight deadlines while ensuring quality outcomes. You prioritise stakeholder management and align them with our business’ strategies and needs.  

Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline along with demonstrated experience in traffic management or transport systems will support your suitability. And ideally, you will have previous experience with physical infrastructure projects, integrated technical transport infrastructure.

You will be a strong communicator, working collaboratively with colleagues across the Division and prioritising across a complex portfolio of interdependent programs and projects, providing valued-added solutions in an ever-changing environment.

Salary and Benefits

This role is a Transport Senior Service Manager (TSSM) with salary packages starting at $172K depending on experience.
