About this role

Reporting to the Head of Major Deals and Specialist Sales, this role will play a pivotal part in developing and executing the most complex/emerging specialist solutions for both public and private sector customers, on behalf of the Region. You will be accountable for engaging directly with the customer on BT’s largest opportunities, usually with a £multi-mullion value to BT.

Highly refined persuasive skills are needed; this role is the main point of persuasion with the customer to buy more novel and complex solutions. Needs to influence and draw on a range of capabilities across Enterprise, including technical pre-sales, technical design, bid finance and bid management to construct highly compelling proposals for customers.

Emphasis is placed on maintaining an extensive, deep, and broad knowledge of the customer solutions that BT might provide in the areas covered, and the ability to translate these into a compelling story for the customer. Therefore, an in-depth understanding of the BT portfolio and how to pull elements together to provide business changing solutions to the customer is needed, generating quality opportunities and the ability to differentiate our offerings against those of our competition.

Working with our strategic partners, internal product managers and portfolio groups both to ensure a deep architectural knowledge of area of specialism and to influence the development of capabilities to maximise customer interest. You’ll be on the pulse of the latest trends and developments in our industry, with an in-depth knowledge covering a wide array of specialist technologies, and you be able to present authoritatively with customers and internal stakeholders to share your knowledge and improve others learning.

You’ll gain access to the most senior CX level client stakeholders and build credible client relationships, helping deliver their business strategy and specifically focusing on engagement within senior technical teams (e.g. CTO/CIO)

 

You'll have the following responsibilities

•Work directly with senior customer contacts in our largest and most complex customers to understand their business goals, challenges and wider industry trends, and utilise this information to create actionable insight

•Creating winning solutions that exceed customer expectations, through the technical design, development and articulation of complex, multi-product solutions

•Managing, delivering and exceeding all sales targets. This will be based predominantly on growth opportunities within a defined base of the largest and most complex customers across the North & Midlands region

•Educating and influencing internal stakeholders to ensure customers benefit from the full portfolio of products, services and solutions that BT & EE offer, and that sales opportunities can be maximised.

•Working with finance and commercial teams to understand opportunity P&L in detail for the customer solutions being sold, ensuring margins on all deals are maximised and component pricing parameters are competitive

•Understanding and driving the migration from Traditional services to next generation technologies, including All-IP, Network Convergence and SD

 

You'll have the following skills & experience

•In-depth technical knowledge and expertise across a diverse set of technologies, services and partners

•Strong analytical skills, including industry and market trends, customer trading and buying cycles, competitor positions and vendor analysis

•Ability to engage at a board level with customers to strategically position BT, its offering and competitive advantage

•In-depth expertise on BT’s product and solution portfolio and the ability to transfer that into qualifies opportunities with customers

•Commercial acumen, including forecasting, pipeline management, P&L analysis and general sales awareness

•Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills with strong influencing and negotiation skills, honed at a senior level
