BBC Design + Engineering are the team that’s building the future of the BBC, delivering TV, radio and online services to hundreds of millions of people worldwide, every day. As well as being behind iPlayer, Sounds and the News, Sports and Children’s services, we develop, support and maintain the systems and infrastructure that keeps the BBC on air, and we are responsible for the biggest British-run digital service in the world.

Commercial Digital are a multi-function delivery team focused on delivery of world class direct-to-consumer and business-to-business solutions aligned to BBC Studios, the commercial arm of the BBC.

We are looking for a self-motivated Engineer who is passionate about technology and likes finding elegant solutions to technical problems.

You will join a team which focuses on problem-solving; getting to the root cause and understanding technical/business/user issues in order to find the best solutions. By putting the user experience at the forefront of our process, our approach allows time for plenty of research and analysing data.

As a team we follow an Agile approach - we like to adapt, build, test and learn as we deliver the roadmap.

Role Responsibility

As a Senior Software Engineer within the team, you will help to shape and implement new features and core functionality for our online event platform which enables media buyers to discover new catalogue titles, explore the content pipeline and meet directly with sales contacts.

You will have an opportunity to work across the entire application life cycle - from development and test through deployment and operations.

Some of your key accountabilities will be:

You will collaborate with Engineers, UX/UI and Product Owners to deliver new functionality and improvements to the Online Events Platform.

You will identify and resolve scalability and performance issues.

You will write efficient and reusable code.

You will participate in code reviews with other engineers.

You will share knowledge with other engineers.
