Microsoft’s Retail Experiences team is looking for a highly motivated engineer, building advanced machine learning models on transactional, behavioral data sets, passionate about data, machine learning and data sciences for providing great customer experiences for online stores and Microsoft experience centers. This opportunity will get you working on large scale structured, unstructured data sets, apply deep learning techniques on the real-world datasets to build and deploy models using the latest Azure cloud technologies like Azure machine learning, Synapse and Azure data lake.

A well-qualified candidate should be highly technical, building and designing enterprise scale predictive analytics. They are a self-starter with abundant intellectual curiosity who excels at framing problems analytically, comfortable working through ambiguity, and have a proven track record of helping leverage analytical insights to drive impactful decisions.   

Responsibilities

• Formulating a real-world enterprise scenario into a machine learning problem and think of optimal ways of solving.
• Data wrangling with large data sets on the cloud to understand the properties of the data.   
• Transforming data into innovative features/signals that can improve a machine-learning tasks. 
• Participate in end-to-end machine learning model lifecycle, from prototyping, implementing & evaluating ML and DL models, followed by deployment and monitoring using Azure.
• Working in a team of engineers, data scientists, UX experts to deliver an intuitive, robust solution to the customer. 
• Self-learning new techniques and advances in machine learning from textbooks and research papers and applying them to problem. 
• Solid written/verbal communications skills and excellent problem-solving skills
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
• Proven experience with tolerance for ambiguity working through incubation to actual product definition.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• 8+ years of experience (or research projects in lieu of industry experience) in the areas of data science, machine learning or information retrieval 
• 8+ years of experience in building big data solutions, large-scale data processing using one of the programming languages - Python, R, Scala, U-SQL or C# (Python is a must)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Ability to leverage APIs, and other relevant data science & data analytical tools such as Azure Machine learning, Synapse with strong data analytics & debugging skills.
• Knowledge and demonstrable skills in Deep learning architectures and implementation using Pytorch or TensorFlow. 
• Practical experience with Spark
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or related fields
