These devices, ranging from tiny MCU based sensor devices to powerful devices in cars, drones and datacenters, have profound impact to our daily lives; from how we live, how we work, how we learn and how we connect.  The Microsoft Azure Edge Devices (AED) organizatgion is chartered with building devices, experiences and services that help our ecosystem of partners and customers leverage Azure to accelerate their creation and adoption of the next generation of connected, intelligent, and autonomous edge solutions.  We work across a wide range of industries, partner types, device form factors, and service technologies to enable new application scenarios, provide in-depth business insights and safeguard the security and privacy of our customer/partners data.

The Azure Percept engineering team builds services, experiences, and solutions to enable the systems for these partnerships and collaboration. We are a nimble team that works in close collaboration with other groups across Azure Edge + Platform and Microsoft to deliver systems at scale. The charter of team members here spans across Azure Edge + Platform, Microsoft and the largest OEMs/ODMs/IHVs in the world, so you will have tremendous impact on the future success of Microsoft. We are an extremely passionate organization and are focusing on a data driven engineering culture.

Responsibilities

We are seeking a self-motivated senior software developer with industry experience, technical leadership, and solid engineering skills. All our development is very partner- and customer-centric, and you should feel strongly not only about building and releasing good software, but about making that software highly reliable and scalable. Experience with building and operating cloud scale API services and data pipelines will be a big plus.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of demonstrated software development experience.
• Proficiency in one or more of the following: C#, Go, Java, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, SQL.
• Possess a sound understanding of fundamentals of Computer Science including Algorithms, Data Structures, Object Oriented Design and Distributed Systems.
• Great problem solving and design skills, with demonstrated passion for quality, performance, and service excellence.
• Knowledge of Agile development and DevOps processes.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) with ability to communicate across teams, internally and externally at all levels.  
• BS, MS or PhD in computer science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with one of the public cloud providers such as Azure, AWS, GCP etc.
• Working knowledge of Kubernetes, Containers and/or AI/ML is a strong plus.
