We are looking for a software engineer to help us deliver tools that significantly improve developers’ productivity.

You will work with program managers to understand customer needs and develop experiences that make developers more productive. You will work in a highly collaborative, globally dispersed, remote-friendly, agile environment. You will work on a small team with big impact – each person contributes to a wide area of the product. You will seek new ways to share code and experiences with the Visual Studio (for Windows) product, collaborating with many teams across make Visual Studio for Mac even more productive. You will become part of a team where learning from peers and growing as a team is a core principle.

Based in Boston and Europe, the VSMac team works primarily on European and Eastern US time zones. This is remote-friendly position.

• Enjoy figuring out difficult technical problems in a foundational space that will affect Visual Studio's ability to deliver on features that target new platforms or provide new experiences
• Like the idea that the code you build & design has one of the most direct correlations to developer satisfaction, and by delivering high quality, performant, and elegant experiences you can greatly enhance a developer's day-to-day enjoyment
• Want to be part of a motivated and collaborative engineering team
• Design, implement, debug, and deliver rich developer experiences and services using C#
• Use data insights to validate and improve feature reliability and performance
• Collaborate with other teams and help contribute to mutual success

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience developing commercial software.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Software design, coding and debugging experience
• Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Design, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent alternative education, skills, and/or practical experience is required
• Experience with developing desktop and / or macOS software
• Experience programming C#, Java, or another strongly-typed programming language
• Experience with Apple’s Xcode, Instruments, and other Mac development tools
• Good written and verbal communication skills in English

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check. This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
