As a Senior Developer in Test, you will be expected to work within an agile squad writing test plans, test scenarios as well as designing and writing and executing automated tests for both back end services as well as the front end website. It is expected that you will be able to decouple these as appropriate and ensure that tests are written in such a way that data is not hardcoded and the tests can be executed against multiple environments by passing different dataset.

You will be working closely with the development team, product owners, UX and designers to ensure that you have a full understanding of the requirements when planning and writing tests. It is key that you are passionate about testing and keep on top of changes in this space, as well as being passionate about agile ways of working, in particular around acceptance criteria and how these influence the tests you write as well as the development of the feature

You will work with your peers as well as senior developers, principal developers and development managers to ensure that you are following the best practices laid out. You should also proactively contribute to improvements in practice of the dev in test function as well as to our ongoing continued improvement as a squad and wider team.

As required you will carry out manual testing on the website.

About the role

• Helping to manage and deliver large scale projects that will shape our website and the features and experience that we deliver to our customers
• These projects will help transform sales and service across TalkTalk Consumer (TTC) in terms of driving sales, reducing cost to serve and increasing customer and agent satisfaction
• Responsible for producing secure, robust and scalable solutions using the relevant technical tools, and develop an understanding of the wider ecosystem, in particular the downstream systems that your code interacts with
• Ensuring continuous improvement of the platform is ongoing either through enhancements or ensuring new work materially improves end user experience (customer and agents)
• Work closely with principal developers, solution designers and development managers to deliver high quality tests that adheres to best practice and standards, leading by example. In addition, you will be coaching and mentoring the staff around you to do the same
• Work within a multi discipline software delivery squad and offer guidance to those around.  In turn working closely with developers and development managers to ensure that you are all aligned on best practice, solution designs and ways of working
• Contribute to the testing of robust, scalable solutions that fit with a distributed architecture in the Cloud
• Act as a mentor, coach and technical guide to the rest of the squad.

Must have:

• 5+ years’ experience in test automation in C# using Specflow or similar frameworks.
• Knowledge and experience of writing stable and maintainable automated test frameworks for UIs and APIs.
• Experience of integration and end to end testing.
• Performance and Security testing experience.
• Accessibility testing experience.
• Experience of writing readable and maintainable test scenarios driven by the requirements.
• Leading and promoting testing best practices adoption, using a variety of techniques such as workshops and guilds.
• Understanding of key test design patterns and test data setup techniques.
• Good understanding of non-functional testing.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and management of delivery
• Jira/ADO TFS or similar ticket management system
• Strong understanding of agile ways of working
• Demonstrable experience of coaching and mentoring team mates

Be great to also have:

• Knowledge of cloud technologies e.g. Azure, AWS and associated concepts.
• Any line management and leadership experience
