Job Description

As a Senior Salesforce Developer you will work closely with a Delivery Manager to manage the delivery of a large Salesforce Roadmap, that includes new applications and continuous improvements or enhancements. This will involve helping to manage and deliver large scale projects that will shape our automation roadmap for our Wholesale Services function.

These projects will help transform sales and service across terms of automation, reduced errors (and customer credits) and customer and agent satisfaction. You will act as a technical expert for Salesforce (SME) and to share knowledge as appropriate with own team members and the wider audience.

About the Role

  • Work within a multi discipline software delivery team and act as a true technical lead.
  • Undertake activities at all stages of the SDLC including engagement with Business Stakeholders, Solution Design, Platform Owners and Business Analysis.
  • Own, shape and mould our systems, by producing high quality designs and code
  • Act as a mentor, coach and technical lead to the rest of the team and the department.
  • Gain knowledge of our systems and always living our department’s foundations and values, having Smart Systems, excellent teamwork and culture, ensuring all our work is of high quality, supporting and empowering our people and driving continuous improvement.
  • Drive forwards best practice adoption and creation in our software architecture and coding patterns and principles
  • Be a true Technical Lead within our department, mentor, guide, coach and support everyone around you to ensure we hit our deadlines, develop our people and succeed as a team. Take ownership of issues and see them through to resolution
  • Undertake, support and/or own all software delivery activities when required including Estimation, System Design, Coding, Testing, Deployment activities and supporting creation and Execution of System Testing
  • Work with management to foster a culture of knowledge sharing and the importance of documentation and workshops to create strength in depth within the team.  Lead by example to aid and mentor the team.
  • Work with Lead Developers, Business Analysts and Solution Designers to understand the business requirements to assist with ensuring our low-level design and code delivers on our customers’ needs.  Ensure that all tickets are kept up-to-date with information and in the correct state. 
  • Drive continuous improvement within the team and wider department, such as innovation initiatives, technical debt removal, automation and process improvements
  • Ensure everything produced by our team is of good quality, by performing code, design and test review and delivering feedback in a constructive and supportive manner. This could include reviewing the work of peers as well as more junior staff leading to reducing defects and incidents
  • Support and assist the Team Leader to prepare deployment plans and highlight all known dependencies and risks, including deputisation for the team leader when required.
  • Validate Test Plans and Cases for our systems as they progress through each of the further testing levels
  • Help to define and promote best practices for software development within the department and ensure the use of them when it is the right thing to do.
  • Support Operations teams to ensure OSS systems are operationally stable, supported by Delivery when required and released safely during deployments
  • Contribute to planning and sizing of project requirements in isolation or with the rest of the team

About you

You’ll have demonstrable experience with Salesforce development, experience with programming with Apex, Lightning Components, and Visualforce. You’ll also may have experience with Integrations, SOAP, and REST API integration, using version control system and experience of Waterfall / Agile Delivery models.
