For our Microsoft Research Amsterdam lab, we are seeking exceptional Senior Researcher candidates in the area of Computational Chemistry. The successful applicant is expected to develop a program of research in computational chemistry based on modern machine learning methods, and to apply these across one or multiple real-world applications. This is an exceptional opportunity to drive ambitious research while collaborating with a diverse team of other researchers and engineers to push the state of the art in machine learning for computational chemistry.

There is no closing deadline for this post. The post will be filled once suitable candidates are found so if you are interested, please apply as soon as possible. When submitting your application, include your CV with a list of publications as an attachment. You may also include your published work. For more information about the post, please feel free to email Sebastian Nowozin at Sebastian.Nowozin@microsoft.com.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and drive an ambitious, high-impact, research agenda in deep learning for computational chemistry and molecular dynamics, within the context of a highly collaborative research culture.
  • Collaborate to develop and test out new ideas within existing or new collaborations within a project or the wider research group.
  • Write research code to test new approaches or develop novel theoretical and practical insights.
  • Desire to work in a multi-disciplinary team consisting of computational chemists, deep learning researchers, and research engineers.
  • Prepare technical papers and presentations.

Qualifications

  • Experience in self-directed research in computational chemistry, computational physics or a related area, for example demonstrated by a completed PhD.
  • A research program demonstrated by publications in relevant top-tier publication venues (e.g., journals such as Journal of Chemical Physics, JCTC, PRL, Chemical Science, Nature Chemistry).
  • Strong understanding of state-of-the-art quantum chemistry methods and/or molecular dynamics simulations with experience in one or more areas of applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement computational chemistry approaches.
  • Demonstrable ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment.
  • Passion to see research have real-world impact on key challenges for society
