For our Microsoft Research Amsterdam lab, we are seeking exceptional Senior Researcher candidates in the area of Deep Learning for Molecular Modelling. The successful applicant is expected to develop a program of research in novel deep learning approaches for chemistry and applications. This is an exceptional opportunity to drive ambitious research while collaborating with a diverse team of other researchers and engineers to push the state of the art in deep learning for molecular modelling.

Responsibilities

• Develop and drive an ambitious, high-impact, research agenda in deep learning for theoretical chemistry and/or molecular dynamics within the context of a highly collaborative research culture.
• Develop and test out new ideas within existing or new collaborations within a project or the wider research group.
• Write research code to test new approaches or develop novel theoretical and practical insights.
• Prepare technical papers and presentations.

Qualifications

• Experience in self-directed research in machine learning, deep learning, computational chemistry/physics, or a related area, for example demonstrated by a completed PhD.
• A research program demonstrated by publications in relevant top-tier publication venues (e.g., conferences such as NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR or domain-relevant journals such as JCP, JCTC, PRL, JACS, Angew. Chem, Nat. Chem).
• Strong understanding of state-of-the-art deep learning approaches for molecules. Preferably in-depth experience with molecular dynamics and/or quantum chemistry methods.
• Hands-on experience in implementing and evaluating machine learning approaches for molecular problems.
• Demonstrable ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment.
• Passion to see research have real-world impact on key challenges for society.
