Job Description

We are a state government organisation made up of more than 28,000 people and we're in the middle of delivering the largest transport infrastructure program in Australia's history. We work across planning, policy and procurement, harnessing data and technology to develop smarter and more adaptive transport solutions.

That means job opportunities in metropolitan and regional areas right across NSW – you have the chance to be part of creating a lasting legacy that will benefit generations to come.

About  the team

The $1.18 billion incentivised target cost contract has been awarded to CPB Contractors and Downer EDI Works in a joint venture for the Warringah Freeway Upgrade.

Early works are already underway with the main work to start next months. Construction is expected to take approximately four years to complete, subject to the detailed design and construction program.

The Warringah Freeway upgrade includes:

Upgrade 4km of the Warringah Freeway, between High Street at North Sydney and Willoughby Road at Naremburn, to reduce the amount of merging required, and improve safety and traffic flow.

Improve interchanges with Falcon Street at Cammeray and High Street at North Sydney, including a new northbound on ramp at High Street which will ease pressure on the existing ramp at Berry Street.

Connections to the future Western Harbour Tunnel and Beaches Link.

Improved public transport links, with a continuous southbound bus lane from Miller Street to the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Around 2.5 kilometres of new and upgraded cycleways and pedestrian paths, integrated with public transport networks, including the future Victoria Cross metro station at North Sydney

Review and implement project briefs and provide appropriate direction as a lead for multidisciplinary project teams to drive and deliver project objectives and targets by modelling high performance behaviours including teamwork, initiative and flexibility, and developing less experienced team members through mentoring and coaching.

Develop, build and maintain effective working relationships and collaborate with customers, colleagues, stakeholders and partners to understand and manage risk and influence sustainable outcomes on projects by the development and implementation of effective stakeholder and community involvement plans.

Deliver a high level WHS (workplace health and safety), and environmental management on projects and contracts, by developing and implementing appropriate strategies, procedures, guidelines, processes and practices in collaboration with RMS specialists.

Work within a matrix management structure where support services are embedded within the Branch delivery teams.

Manage and provide advice to subordinates on development opportunities so as to contribute to the development of staff and to support the continuous improvement of the Section.
