About the team
The $1.18 billion incentivised target cost contract has been awarded to CPB Contractors and Downer EDI Works in a joint venture for the Warringah Freeway Upgrade.
Early works are already underway with the main work to start next months. Construction is expected to take approximately four years to complete, subject to the detailed design and construction program.
The Warringah Freeway upgrade includes:
Upgrade 4km of the Warringah Freeway, between High Street at North Sydney and Willoughby Road at Naremburn, to reduce the amount of merging required, and improve safety and traffic flow.
Improve interchanges with Falcon Street at Cammeray and High Street at North Sydney, including a new northbound on ramp at High Street which will ease pressure on the existing ramp at Berry Street.
Connections to the future Western Harbour Tunnel and Beaches Link.
Improved public transport links, with a continuous southbound bus lane from Miller Street to the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
Around 2.5 kilometres of new and upgraded cycleways and pedestrian paths, integrated with public transport networks, including the future Victoria Cross metro station at North Sydney
The opportunity
We are currently looking for a Senior Project Engineer to join us on the Warringah Freeway Upgrade Project to assist us in developing and delivering this infrastructure project to the agreed budget, timeframes, quality standards and scope objectives.
Your responsibilities would include:
Develop, manage and implement road, bridge or traffic infrastructure and/or maintenance projects including the delivery of rigorous project and contract management services to ensure effective monitoring and reporting, risk management and the development and the delivery of projects to time, cost and quality requirements and Government and TfNSW objectives
Lead and manage the investigation, design, estimating and procurement processes for nominated project to ensure delivery of required client objectives including quality project documentation and alignment to NSW government and TfNSW procurement policies and processes.
Review and manage the development, tendering, awarding and administration of professional service, construction and maintenance contracts by controlling the scope, managing contract risks and issues, and by fulfilling the role of TfNSW Representative to ensure a high level of WHS, environmental management and quality is achieved on all projects/contracts
Review and implement project briefs and provide appropriate direction as a lead for multidisciplinary project teams to drive and deliver project objectives and targets by modelling high performance behaviours including teamwork, initiative and flexibility, and developing less experienced team members through mentoring and coaching.
Develop, build and maintain effective working relationships and collaborate with customers, colleagues, stakeholders and partners to understand and manage risk and influence sustainable outcomes on projects by the development and implementation of effective stakeholder and community involvement plans.
Deliver a high level WHS (workplace health and safety), and environmental management on projects and contracts, by developing and implementing appropriate strategies, procedures, guidelines, processes and practices in collaboration with RMS specialists.
Work within a matrix management structure where support services are embedded within the Branch delivery teams.
Manage and provide advice to subordinates on development opportunities so as to contribute to the development of staff and to support the continuous improvement of the Section.
About you
To be successful in this position you will have successfully completed a four-year engineering degree from an Australian university or an equivalent overseas qualification acceptable for professional recognition within Australia.
You possess a current and valid Australian motor vehicle driver license and willingness to work outside normal working hours on occasion. Possess a can do attitude and eager to learn from our experienced multi-disciplinary team.
You will also have demonstrated experience in managing major infrastructure or other complex projects, such as road, bridge, maritime and where applicable tunnel projects, with a strong knowledge of either project implementation, including contract management, or project development, including environmental planning and assessment processes;
Strong project Management as well as construction management as well as project management experience working within infrastructure projects would be essential to succeed in these roles.
