About this role

This is a key role within Networks that is accountable for driving the E2E delivery of a significant and strategically important initiative for Voice Product Transformation. This programme manager will be a very strong problem solver, with refined thinking leadership capability. Providing leadership, guidance, and coaching a (virtual) team of up to 12 Project Managers, and a matrix team to up to 200, including multiple 3rd party suppliers. 

Providing a consistent approach, improved transparency and clear accountability for outcomes, whilst ensuring quality and predictability of our delivery. 

This role’s duties and responsibilities will cover a variety of key programme management tasks including:

• As the Technology interface, working very closely and builing trusting relationships with CFU teams such as Product and Proposition to build 5 year programme-level plan, product roadmap, and migration plan.

• Work with various areas of Technology teams across Networks, Digital and 3rd party vendors to build and test technical products; trial and go-to-market with CFU teams such as CX, Marketing and Operations; then ensure service transition completion for monitoring and Ops support.

• Skillfully using OKRs and KPIs to track progress, and comfortably reporting to MDs and CEOs regularly on programme status.

• Managing programme Risks, Issues, mitigations, change requests and dependencies

• Managing MTP and finance tracking, Capex/ Opex allocation

• Leading and managing a team of project managers and concurrently manage various projects/products

• Providing leadership, guidance and performance management to drive team performance 

• Constantly improving governance model for better ways of working and efficiency

 

You'll have the following responsibilities

• Delivery of a highly complex and cross functional programme which involves a number of projects spanning Business units/segments, Technology, Product and Migration enablement, on time, within budget and to agreed quality criteria.

• Management of programme governance forums to drive delivery and form input to cross-programme and Business unit/segment governance.

• Preparing and maintaining programme plans. Tracking progress against delivery milestones, business strategy and outcomes and escalating where programme is off track.

• Liaise with wider programme to secure alignment on interdependencies across projects

• Capable of reporting programme progress to Director and occasionally MD levels  with influence and persuasion. 

• CAPEX budget and risk management across the programme 

• Demonstrates control through management of issues, risks, changes and assumptions in accordance with governance processes. 

• Acts as line manager to a team of project managers or Scrum Masters and supports their development, providing guidance, support and mentoring. 

• Use industry experience to positively affect programme strategy and delivery

• Foster strong relationships across multiple teams and functions to drive project/programme deliveries and ensure credibility and ownership of decisions.

 

You'll have the following skills & experience

Skills required

• Broad knowledge of and significant experience with Telecom products and services.

• Strong stakeholder management; ability to drive strong, open and sustained communication channels with the wider stakeholder community.

• Ability to build trusted relationships with customers and suppliers 

• Good influencing skills to manage and set expectations 

• Excellent communication skills, comfortable with presenting at Director and MD level.

• Excellence in scoping and shaping programme to meet business strategy, outcomes and delivery

• Ability to learn quickly and adapt, self-motivation, self-confidence and assertiveness

• Ability to think beyond existing solutions, to challenge assumptions and existing beliefs.

• Fast learner with ability to operate effectively in new environments

Ideally, you will also have the following experience:

• VOIP and PSTN products

• Experience in both Networks delivery and Digital IT delivery

• Product portfolio transformation, including experience to re-shape product roadmap

• Commerical Go-to-market strategy, and commercial awareness of P&L impacting factors

• Hands-on delivery experience with Agile/SCRUM

In addition:

• Industry recognised Programme/Project Management Qualification.

• Extensive experience in managing highly complex and high risk programmes to deliver market leading products and services in a telecoms sector.

• Negotiation skills, understands objectives trading both within programme and across wider business units/segments.

• Capable of clear communications at Senior Management level.
