Senior Principle Stress Engineer

The successful candidate can expect to:

The Senior Principal Stress Engineer will be required to provide solution for static structural problems. They will be the point of reference, the go-to person and the technical expert for all static analysis problems and will liaise with:

  • Stress functional manager to define and improve methods, tools and standard work
  • NPI (New product introduction) and HOV (Head of version) stress manager for technical challenges regarding structural requirements and structural analysis

As required, they will lead and coordinate a pool of engineers located globally in 4 locations to find and implement novel solutions for structural analysis. The position gives the possibility to a seasoned technical expert to influence the static analysis certification strategy and offer progression towards higher technical responsibility roles and developing towards technical fellowship. The successful candidate will be part of a multicultural team spread across 4 locations worldwide of 60 analysis engineers. The position will report to the Senior Manager for Galley Analysis, which has an empowering style of management, allowing team members to take decision and responsibility. Strongly believes in trust, communication and engagement been key of success.

Main responsibilities

  • Identify and implement solution to all static analysis problems pulling together a cross-functional problem-solving team.
  • Act as point of reference for all static structural problem and challenges, able to solve these problems leveraging technical expertise and efficient communication.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholder clearly communicating risks and means of compliance
  • Give guidance to all static structural strategies, defining methods of compliance and effectively communicate certification strategies to the rest of the business
  • Coordinate with Chief engineering office and other functions to ensure full compliance and certification strategy alignment.
  • Ideal candidate will be able to support certification holding CVE or delegated approve status for structure
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement activity to increase quality, best practices and standard work. Support in review and approval, not limited to, templates, processes, work instructions, check lists, FEM manual and tools.

What you need to succeed?

Essential Criteria:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering, ideally in aerospace
  • Extensive experience in structure for commercial aeronautic industry

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience in structure for aircraft interiors
  • Extensive knowledge in all static analysis and finite element modelling, not limited to:
    • Classical hand calculation
    • FEM software FEMAP and/or Patran, MSC/NX Nastran
    • FEM to test correlation
    • Material behaviour and modelling
      • Sandwich honeycomb panels
      • Metallic
      • Bonded and bolted joints
    • Certification by analysis
      • Methodologies
      • Limitations
  • CVE or Approver status for structure
