The Senior Policy Officer is responsible for providing timely advice to the Senior Program Manager on policy and regulatory compliance to support the delivery of the Powerline Bushfire Safety Program (PBSP). The role includes close liaison with key stakeholders in the department, other Victorian Government agencies, Commonwealth agencies and regulators and industry. The role requires an ability to understand complex technical detail to provide timely advice on options to reduce the risk of bushfires caused by powerlines. It is a key role in supporting PBSP in delivering the core outcomes set out by the 2009 Victorian Bushfire Royal Commission and Powerline Bushfire Safety Taskforce and recommendations from the Victorian Auditor General Reducing Bushfire Risks Report.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in public policy or similar is essential.
• A relevant post-graduate qualification would be highly regarded.

This is a fixed term position available for a period of 12 months.
