What you can expect to be doing:
- Senior Platform Engineer responsibilities include deploying product updates, identifying issues and implementing integrations that meet customer needs.
- Empower developers to take ownership of the operation, performance and availability of their services
- Design, write and deliver software that improves the lives of our engineers and the scalability of our platform
- Take ownership of our Kubernetes platform roadmap and all of our application CI/CD infrastructure and default pipelines
- Take part in our on-call rota
- Creating and delivering well-scoped tickets to provision and configure infrastructure, pipeline and platform requirements
- Interested in the root cause of incidents and outages and improving our time between incidents and MTTR
- Comfortable in automating processes and constantly finding new areas to automate or make more efficient
- Maintenance and patching of our AWS Estate
- Tracking incidents, occurrences and MTTR
- Deployment frequency and failure rate tracking
- Dashboards and management information
What we’re really looking for:
- Scripting experience: Bash, Python, GoLang
- Infrastructure Experience: Terraform, Pulumi, CloudFormation
- Cloud Service Providers: AWS (Azure or GCP is fine too)
- Container / Container Orchestration experience: Docker (e.g. ECS, EKS, Rancher, Kubernetes, etc)
- Experience deploying containers into highly automated AWS environments
- Experience with DNS management (Route53, especially with split horizon)
- Experience defining and deploying secure IAM access controls across hub-and-spoke accounts, with a strong understanding of federated protocols
- Security awareness (access controls, deep packet inspection, security groups, network ACLs)
- Understanding of Microservice Architecture / Mesh technologies and how to deploy/manage them
