Partnering within our TV and iplayer commissioning teams.

Role Responsibility

  • Contribute to, and where accountable, define policies and processes that support the BBC and Content HR strategy and objectives
  • Use and understand BBC tools and policies, engaging with divisional clients effectively to ensure their use across the organisation
  • Support TV in in attracting, managing and developing talent to support current and future organisational needs
  • Work closely with all BBC HR colleagues to ensure that tools and policies are aligned, enhance employee engagement and ultimately improve performance
  • Use data and analytics to measure the effectiveness of tools and policies; understand the landscape for further improvement
  • Provide specialist input across a range of HR issues (generalist/specific expertise); design and deliver solutions that meet the needs of the business
  • Coach and develop the capability of senior managers to anticipate and pre-empt organisational issues
  • Participate in projects, leading and promoting the BBC’s reputation as a leading organisation and employer of choice
  • Keep up-to-date with external trends and best practice in the areas of expertise and HR more broadly
  • Continuously implement improvements in tools and policies through external market trends, insight and internal best practice
  • Proactively share best practice, intelligence within HR
  • Establish relationships and form alliances with external counterparts and stakeholders to look for innovations and opportunities to form partnerships
  • Understand and anticipate the need for change, identify the underlying issues and make the case for change with stakeholders
  • Create frameworks to plan and manage the continuous process of change including dependencies, risk, potential scenarios and options to mitigate
  • Be an ambassador for the function and represent BBC HR internally and externally (as appropriate)

The Ideal Candidate

We're looking for someone who has experience of working in a fast paced, agile environment and who has strong connections with the market, keeping up to date with current trends across the sector. You'll also possess the following:     

  • Extensive HR experience (generalist or specialist) gained in a large complex organisation(s) with multiple stakeholders (including matrix relationships)
  • You will ideally have previous experience of operating at a Senior Business Partner level, working with senior stakeholders to create positive business outcomes
  • You will ideally have experience working in the broadcasting or wider media industry
  • Knowledge of current thinking in HR issues and trends; evidence of Continuing Professional Development
  • A passion for and experience in talent attraction, and culture change is desirable
  • Relevant experience of participating on business boards which govern strategy and decision making
  • Ability to take the initiative and be responsible for the decisions made
  • Communicates, challenges and influences a variety of stakeholders effectively
  • Ability to present sound and well-reasoned arguments to convince others and able to draw on a range of strategies to persuade people in a way that results in agreement or behaviour change
  • Adapts and works effectively with a variety of situations, individuals or groups. Is able to understand and appreciate different and opposing perspectives on an issue, to adapt an approach as the requirements of a situation change and to change or easily accept changes in one’s own organisation or job requirements
  • Creates strategic partnerships both within and outside of the BBC
  • Effective in the face of pressure, set-backs or when dealing with difficult or sensitive situations
  • Able to simplify complex problems, processes or projects into component parts then explore and evaluate them systematically
  • Transforms proposals/ideas into practical reality
  • Personally resilient.  Able to deal with disputes and ethical dilemmas.  Represents and promotes the reputation of HR and takes accountability for the actions of the HR team
  • Understands the value drivers of the BBC and is commercially astute
