Join EDF as a Senior Hedging Analyst and you’ll be responsible for developing and implementing our hedging strategies; providing guidance and analytical support to the Shift Trading and Portfolio Hedging teams; and report on the trading and performance of hedging activity to drive insight, improved commercial value and provide visibility of the team’s activities up to the executive level. The Senior Hedging Analyst would be expected to provide coaching and guidance to support the development of the more junior analysts within the team.

We’re open to recruiting either an Analyst or Senior Analyst to join the team. With long term development and training opportunities, the Analyst role would suit someone at the beginning of their analyst career. The Senior Analyst role would be ideal for an experienced candidate looking for the next step in their career.

The opportunity…

The Senior Hedging Analyst will be a be proactive and commercially aware to develop hedging strategies which maximise the gross margin of the combined portfolio of Generation and Customers within the risk appetite of the company. You’ll present and clearly explain strategies to various levels of key stakeholders (up to Director level), convincing senior management to gain approval for proposals.

You’ll continually interrogate and analyse the portfolio risks and opportunities. Develop hedges or strategies to manage the risk and capture the value of these risks and opportunities and ensure these are effectively implemented, considering operational complexity and transparency requirements. The Senior Hedging Analyst will develop and innovate the risk appetite and risk limit structure of the portfolio through the Risk Mandate, maintaining a strong working knowledge of the Corporate Energy Market Risk Policy and provide authoritative strategic advice and analysis to the Wholesale Markets Optimisation leadership team.

You’ll deliver early warnings of changes, risks and opportunities arising out of developments in the wholesale market and regulation, and ensure that their potential consequences are appropriately understood and managed within Wholesale Markets Optimisation, and necessary changes are embedded in the Business Plan and compliance framework as appropriate.
