The Role:

Needed is a Senior Geotechnical Engineer for our busy Auckland office. We are looking for an additional expert to help us deliver a range of geotechnical advice, reporting and design to our clients. This role will also observe construction of some of the various bridges, tunnels, buildings and water projects we are involved in. As a part of the wider Earth team, you will be providing specialist technical advice, contributing to project teams, and liaising with our various disciplines across the organisation. We currently have a team of 80 nationally, and are looking for motivated candidates who wish to develop, and grow with our organisation. Join an established and welcoming team.

Skills and Experience:

• To provide consultancy services to clients (including internal WSP clients) in the areas of Geotechnical Engineering, Earthquake Engineering, seismic hazard analysis and earthquake acceleration time history development.
• Undertake investigations, analysis, reporting, design, and construction observation of geotechnical aspects of large infrastructure projects including ports, marine, mining, bridges, tunnelling and transportation projects.
• Contribute to the success of the WSP Earth Sector business through providing effective input as part of project teams and providing specialist technical advice to projects.

Experience:

• Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field and a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in geotechnical earthquake engineering
• Current Drivers Licence
• Professional Engineering (CPEng) status, or equivalent
• Proven ability in statistical approaches in engineering applications, including implementation of statistical computing programs such as R Python and or MATLAB;
• Proven experience in writing, modifying and using scripts in the Python programming language.
• Performing probabilistic seismic hazard analysis (PSHA) using software such as Openquake, EZ-FRISK or HAZ45;
• Recommending seismic design parameters; processing and analysing earthquake acceleration time histories or signals using software such as RspMatch or Seismosignal;
• Geotechnical software such as SLIDE and GeoStudio.
