The Division
The Customer Strategy and Technology team within Transport leads the development of long-term, multi-modal network strategies and place plans across NSW. We leverage data and insights, implement new technologies, drive innovation and build partnerships to provide customer-centred solutions.
The opportunity
We have a Fixed Term Full Time Opportunity (up to June 2024) for a Senior Financial Lead to join the Customer Strategy & Technology division in the Sydney Coordinated Adaptive Traffic System (SCATS) branch.
This role leads the planning, policy, delivery and advice of financial management reporting, forecasting, variance analysis, budgeting process and monitoring of agreed efficiency gains to optimise the financial capabilities of the Division in the delivery of business and community outcomes.
SCATS is critical to Transport for NSW and its global customer base, improving traffic flows, managing congesting and keeping over 1 billion people safe every day worldwide. Beyond delivering network optimisation and safety outcomes, SCATS is critical to Transport for NSW’s technology agenda, and is key to anchoring NSW as a global leader in innovation and technology.
What you will be involved in
The successful candidate will operate in a new and changing environment that will require resilience and interest in working in a fast paced environment. You will be putting your stamp on the setup of the reporting as well as set the financial direction. Additionally, this role will:
Effectively manage the divisional finance team to deliver effective financial management practices and business performance.
Manage the delivery of the financial management reports (balance sheet, cash flow and profit and loss) on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
Lead processes that ensure the budget and/or agreed forecast targets are met by monitoring and reviewing revenue, expenditure, business performance measures, remedial actions, and benefits realisation of divisional activities.
Facilitate effective interactions with business managers to contribute to the development of the Division’s annual business plans by providing financial management advice and solutions-based approach.
About you
You will have tertiary qualifications in financial management and accounting and professional membership with either the CPA Australia (CPA) or the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia (ICAA).
Your experience will be in delivering strategic financial management and reporting services in a complex financial environment and ideally this will include a proven track record in implementing financial change management programs that involve setting up financial reporting and the use ERP / accounting systems.
We are looking for an autonomous, proactive, self-disciplined and collaborative person who can setup the path of the financials within a government setting whilst working in a multifaceted team.

Salary and Benefits
The salary for this position is TfNSW Grade 9 ($138,670.00 - $155,309.00) per annum plus superannuation and leave loading.
