Role Responsibility

You will need to quickly develop a comprehensive understanding of BBC Contents current systems and data structures. You will have the ability and insight to help improve current processes by making suggestions for changes that will benefit the team and our internal customers. You will be given the opportunity to get involved in more structured projects as they arise. You will take the lead on particularly complex analysis and/or presentational tasks (e.g. Excel graphing, PowerPoint presentations) across the full range of the Business Information Teams output. You will be able to communicate verbally and produce written information appropriately for the target audience in a simplified manner. You will devise and operate regular checks on the timeliness, accuracy, integrity, and consistency of all data in WhatsOn, particularly historical and forward scheduling, financial and commissioning information. You will work with others within the BBC to improve both data quality and business processes. You will provide expertise in using applications such as Microsoft Excel and Business Objects, as well as graphical and presentational software. You will carry out ad-hoc reports and information requests as required and undertake systems development tasks, e.g. release testing, investigating and reporting bugs, building macros and applications using e.g. Microsoft and Business Objects products.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for an individual with previous experience and knowledge of complex business systems and data structures. You must have substantial experience of interrogating databases and complex data manipulation and reporting.

You will have advanced skills using Microsoft Excel and Access and Business Objects webi reporting. You will also have good working knowledge of designing reports and/or presenting complex data in an accessible, user-friendly format. Also a passion and enthusiasm for television media in general and in the BBC TV output in particular.
