Your new role
Reporting to the Financial Controller Corporate Services, the Senior Projects Accountant is primarily responsible for commercial decision support, including options analysis and business case financials and analytics. The role is also responsible for financial matters relating to Technology Division within Corporate Services, including the month-end close process, budgeting and forecasting, management reporting and business partnering.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
â–ª Key Commercial responsibilities include:
- Preparation of options analysis.
- Preparation and review of business case financials.
- Commercial analysis of procurements and contracts.
â–ª Key Planning responsibilities include:
- Prepare quarterly forecast, annual budgets and long-term forecast for Technology Division and other business units as required.
- Partner with key business stakeholders to interpret and communicate variances from baseline.
â–ª Key responsibilities in project accounting and reporting area including:
- Prepare and present project financial dashboards inclusive of baselines and schedules to completion (both opex and capex) to the various project stakeholders within Corporate Services.
- Prepare project reporting to relevant stakeholders.
- Ensure project costs are in accordance with both Australian Accounting Standards and internal company accounting policy.
- Provide analytical support for change and contingency requests.
- Act as the financial representative on project boards and be able to present financial performance and analytics.
- Input into the preparation and analysis of business cases and initiation documentation (including
responsibility for the development of bottom up costing) and any subsequent reporting.
What you'll need to succeed
The successful candidate will be an experienced accountant with a depth of exposure to complex change projects and accounting issues'. You will be highly organised, energetic, technically strong, professional and commercially focused accountant.
â–ª (Essential) Tertiary qualifications in accounting or a related discipline, and CA/CPA
membership or equivalent.
â–ª Demonstrated work experience in the area of Project Accounting and
Financial and Management Accounting is required (5 years plus); preferably in a large
infrastructure business in a matrix organisation working across multiple stakeholders.
â–ª Proven technical accounting skills with a strong understanding of Australian
Accounting Standards and experience in applying accounting concepts as they relate to
accounting estimates and judgements.
â–ª Demonstrated ability to streamline existing accounting processes while
ensuring a strong financial control environment is maintained.
â–ª Well-developed quantitative, financial and analytical skills. Have a strong
understanding and knowledge of finance accounting systems, data and processes related
to the role.
â–ª Advanced excel skills.
â–ª Strong communication skills (verbal and written) with demonstrated
experience in building and maintaining positive and productive relationships with internal
and external stakeholders to support effective delivery of organisational priorities.
â–ª (Desirable) Experience with TM1, the Oracle Financial Suite (or similar financial system),
and BI tools.
