Digital Security and Resilience (DSR) is looking for a Senior Cloud Security Engineer to improve and expand our Cloud Security posture. As part of a high impact security team, you will be empowered to lead and work across the Microsoft Digital organization and multiple product teams to raise the bar for protecting the Microsoft enterprise. 

In this role, as an Azure security Subject Matter Expert you will lead conversations across multiple divisions and Product Groups to drive, determine, and continuously improve the security control baselines for multiple Azure Tenants leveraged across all of Microsoft.  You will work with engineering teams to understand and minimize potential downstream impacts. You will look for ways to automate control remediations and drive towards a secure by default environment. Along the way, you will be a trusted voice who shares your knowledge and expertise about securing the Microsoft platform with Microsoft’s largest customers to help them deliver the most secure and productive experiences for their own organizations.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities: 

Own the complete security controls baselines for multiple Azure Tenants, Subscriptions, and Resources.

Apply a risk-based approach to anticipate the need to add/update Azure security controls leveraging security expertise, partner feedback, industry trends, and other data insights. Continuously assess the baseline security control’s effectiveness.

Define Azure security controls and work across organizations to drive their successful and timely implementation.

Develop prescriptive guidance for Engineers to meet the control requirements and provide subject matter expertise in the implementation of secure Azure services. Leverage native capabilities and/or develop scripts to facilitate compliance to the established security controls.

Identify new capabilities that will strengthen Microsoft’s security posture and work with Azure Product Group teams to achieve said capabilities through influence and sound data driven justification.

Communicate state of baseline compliance to leadership.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications: 

Minimum 5 years of experience in a service engineering, technical program management, software engineering, or similar role.

Minimum 3 years of experience building or managing Cloud Platforms, Products, or Services

At least 2 years of experience in Cloud Security especially implementing Azure security controls.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior experience with securing Cloud Platforms and Services.

Ability to produce concise and quality technical documentation.

Experience with Azure Resources deployment and Azure Policy

General understanding of cybersecurity standards.

Extensive leadership skills, including the ability to influence without authority and collaborate effectively across multiple business groups with clear intent.

Excellent judgment, decision making skills, and ability to work with deadlines.

Excellent presentation skills and experience presenting to management.
