The Customer Strategy and Technology team within Transport leads the development of long-term, multi-modal strategies, plans and policies across NSW. We implement new technologies, leverage data and insights, drive innovation and build partnerships to develop and deliver customer-centred products and technology solutions. 

The opportunity

Right now, we are undertaking a massive digital and technology transformation program that will shape the future of how our customers plan, book, and pay for transport across NSW, as well as provide feedback.

As a Senior Business Analyst, you will be working with various stakeholders across business functions to support the development of new technologies which serve our millions of customers every day.

Please note that this role is a fixed term full time contract till 30.06.2023

This role has a degree of flexibility, where Transport encourages hybrid ways of working across home and our offices in 2022.

What you will be involved in

You will play a pivotal role in uncovering the needs of our key customers and stakeholders to assist the business in delivering the right solutions. An expert in tailoring system delivery to meet requirements and expected outcomes, you will be the conduit between our technology partners, subject matter experts and our business and customers.

You will have demonstrable experience delivering complex solutions, specifically working on new or upgrading front end interfaces and backend systems. Any experience delivering transportation solutions would be advantageous but not necessary. You will have proven experience and strong communication skills in defining needs, opportunities and recommending solutions by facilitating a collaborative approach to maximise the value delivered to our customers and stakeholders.

The responsibilities for this Senior Business Analyst role include:

Lead the elicitation and capture of business requirements for new and ongoing projects and systems

Facilitate workshops with stakeholders of different levels seniority levels and professional backgrounds

Translate business requirements into technical functional and non-functional system requirements, and provide input to system, workflow and process design

Ensure feature specifications, use cases, user stories and acceptance criteria communicate business needs in technical terms, and ensure delivery teams remain properly appraised of expected business outcomes across the software delivery life cycle

Prepare verification and validation documentation and materials where necessary, and provide advice and investigate solutions related to defects raised against delivered products and solutions

Conduct research and analyse opportunities for business cases to guide optimal decision making for our future products and solutions in Transport's strategic roadmap

Act as a central reference and information source - providing guidance and assistance in the project decision making process

Perform detailed gap analysis and assessment of change impacts across stakeholders and systems

About you

To be successful, you will possess the following skills, attributes and experience:

At least 5 years’ experience in a BA role gathering functional and non-functional requirements, writing use cases and user stories, and working in technical delivery teams

Strong experience in the application of business analysis methodologies, processes and techniques across the software delivery life cycle

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across varying levels of staff and disciplines

Experience working with a wide range of stakeholders including Product Managers, engineers and service staff to refine systems and processes, and identify change impacts associated with new solution delivery

Well-developed interpersonal, consultation, facilitation, and negotiation skills

This role is in a fast paced domain, where you must be able to prioritise workload and manage this autonomously with minimal supervision

Demonstrated experience working with bothAgile and Waterfall methodologies

Salary and Benefits 

The salary for this position is TfNSW Grade 9 ($138,670 - $155,309) per annum plus superannuation and leave loading.
