About the job

As a member of the Global Communications & Public Affairs team, you will work cross-functionally to help communicate with journalists and other thought leaders; devise specific communications materials and campaigns; engage in face-to-face meetings with commentators and other opinion formers; and develop print and web-based material supporting these campaigns. We're looking for great communicators who can understand complex issues and explain them in person and also via well written, simple blog posts, FAQs, video scripts and more.

In this role, you'll turn complex issues into simple narratives, collaborate across teams, think up bold ideas, and drive proactive PR strategy across Google’s core United Kingdom (UK) product portfolio.

In this role, you'll manage multiple initiatives across a number of products and channels, helping to deliver consumer campaigns, launches, news, and social activations, forging strong partnerships with our cross-functional stakeholders to produce stories across Search, Maps, and the Google devices, services, suite, and others. You'll also support the Head of Product Communications in campaigning across the Google UK brand.

Managing incoming requests, overseeing reviews programs, building responses, and monitoring and tracking results will form a large part of your role. You'll also work closely with our social and influencer teams to help produce authentic content that delivers our narrative.

You'll help bring Google’s products to life through clear, creative storytelling, via verbal and written pitches, blog posts, social media posts, scripts, and more. You'll combine creativity with organization to manage numerous projects to tight deadlines.

We help inform and educate users, advertisers, partners, opinion leaders--and our own employees--about the benefits of Google's products, our distinctive company culture/values and our approach to the big public policy issues of the day. You are quick-witted, entrepreneurial and intellectually curious. To succeed in this role, you are willing to try new things and can manage numerous projects with tight deadlines. Things happen quickly at Google, and to do great work, you need to be an enthusiastic team player who can work cross-functionally with partners across PR, Communications, Marketing, Product, and beyond.

Responsibilities

  • Craft and execute overall external and internal executive communication strategies.
  • Partner with senior executives across the management leads team (Communications, Policy, Legal, Marketing, Engineering, Sales, HR) to develop and deliver compelling messages to external audiences.
  • Develop communications materials for Google executives, such as speeches, op-eds, and editorial, and support senior leaders on their external engagements with members of the media and opinion formers.
  • Train and advise company executives for major conferences, media interviews, etc., including social media presence.
  • Be a strategic thought partner who brings people together across the functions that make up the Google Management Team. Partner effectively with internal teams across Google to develop relationships with key stakeholders.
