• Two senior advisor roles, multiple locationsTe Whiwhinga mahi The opportunitiesWe are looking for two senior advisors to provide strategic communications and engagement support to two of our highest priority work programmes - road safety and climate change.

Senior Advisor, Communications and Engagement (Road to Zero)Fixed-term until June 2024, full-time, multiple locationsIn this role you will support New Zealand's road safety strategy, Road to Zero, which sets us on a path to achieve an Aotearoa where no one is killed or seriously injured on our roads.

Your work will help to save lives by building public demand for safer vehicles and influencing which vehicles are imported into the country.

You will also support projects aimed at ensuring our road safety activities reflect international best practice and are effective, including building partnerships and capability across the transport sector and ensuring we have the data and evidence to know we're on track to achieve our outcomes.

Senior Advisor, Communications and Engagement (climate change)Permanent, full-time, multiple locationsIn this role you will help us lift the bar on environmental performance and help to tackle climate change by supporting Toitū Te Taiao, our sustainability action plan, as well as the Government's Emissions Reduction Plan.

Climate change will be one of the most significant drivers influencing the land transport system during the next decade and we will play a crucial role in supporting Aotearoa New Zealand towards a low-emission and climate resilient future.

To achieve the outcomes we're working towards in road safety and climate change, we need high-performing communications and engagement professionals with heaps of initiative and an interest in caring for people, places and the planet.

The right people for these roles will be excellent storytellers who are able to form strong relationships internally and with our external partners.

They will have good project management skills and know how to identify risks, spot opportunities and come up with approaches to address these.

They'll also be able to work effectively in a team and always be thinking about how we can do things better.Ko koe tēnei About youTo be successful in these roles you will have the following :

• Previous experience in strategic communications and engagement planning and delivery at senior advisor level
• Experience in or exposure to an account / relationship management environment
• Excellent writing and editing skills and experience presenting complex information clearly and simply
• Sound knowledge of communications and engagement tools, techniques and channels
• Other specialist skills such as marketing, public relations, change communications
• Proven ability to build relationships with people at all levels
• Previous exposure to successfully working in a collaborative or matrix environment
• Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning in the field of engagement and communications
• Demonstrated knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Māori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Māori
• Knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector
• A tertiary qualification in communications or a related discipline
