We are looking for a Senior Advisor Orebody Knowledge Data & Systems to join our Global Copper Technical Group. Working with sophisticated datasets and complex modelling challenges, you will automate workflows, conduct exploratory data analysis, build models and apply data science techniques.

This is a great new opportunity for a specialist geologist/mining engineer/data scientist/machine learning engineer to be part of a significant shift in the way we work. You will be given the space to utilise your full skill set as we invest in automating our future. Reporting to the Principal Geoscientific Systems and working in a collaborative and exciting environment, you will be:

• Improving the understanding of orebodies using techniques such as machine-learning, optimisation, data science, or software engineering
• Writing scripts in Python or R and automating procedures across multiple systems.
• Developing standalone, or cloud-based applications
• Seeking to simplify and automate routine work in various software packages and integrated development environments (IDEs)
• Organising large datasets from multiple systems and sources, conducting exploratory data analysis

What you will bring

• A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
• Experience in geology, data science, machine learning or optimization
• Coding skills in a variety of languages especially python and R
• Ability to script, develop and maintain workflows
• Experience working within a diverse stakeholder group to deliver results and solutions
• An understanding of geostatistics, or spatial modelling in a related discipline
