Job Description

The Role - Te Tūranga

In this role, you will be expected to lead the supervision of Licensed Financial Advice Providers (FAPs), who range from Banks, Insurers, Advisory Firms, sole adviser businesses, and digital advice offerings. This role is broadly scoped, and covers the following

  • Leading desk-based and onsite monitoring inspections that involves interviewing regulated entities.
  • Leading and publishing thematic monitoring projects across the Financial Advice Sector.
  • Engaging with the Industry on education, guidance, and presentations on the FMA's expectations and financial services law.
  • Building relationships with regulated entities, including Chief Executives, Senior Leadership Teams, Boards and their subcommittees and Financial Advisers.


About you - Ō pūkenga

To be successful in this role, you'll also bring:

  • A background in financial services or come from a regulatory environment, experience gained from either a banking, insurance, compliance, funds management, anti-money laundering, legal, accounting or an investigative environment is preferred.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with the proven ability to establish positive and productive relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Adaptability, along with out of the box thinking
  • Project management experience, able to lead a piece of work working with cross functional teams
  • Leadership qualities, experienced in mentoring and supporting the development of junior team members
