As a Senior Accountant-Assurance, you will have the opportunity to grow your skills and mentor those who are learning. You will be responsible for:
• Independently preparing working papers and financial statements for Audit Engagements, Review Engagements and Compilation Engagements
• Acts as an in-charge in leading engagements; including planning out field work dates with the clients, proactively coordinating the communications between the teams, clients, consultants and managers/partners.
• Independently preparing the most complex sections of an Audit Engagement
• Independently preparing level 3-4 corporate tax returns
• Reviews various income tax slips and filings for corporate tax returns, including T4’s and T5’s
• Independently preparing level 3-4 personal tax returns
• Promptly identifying significant audit or accounting issues for discussion with the Manager, Senior Manager and/or Partner
• Poses credible solutions to issues that have been identified; including write-up of memos for the file and preparing working papers required accordingly
• Conducting review of the team’s working papers prior to submitting to the Manager
• Delegating sections of the file to junior staff members based on their knowledge, experience and capabilities and ensures that staff are properly supervised during completion of each procedure
• Preparing detailed budgets for assurance engagement files and ensures that the budgets are adhered to accordingly
• Coaching staff by providing support and development and by conducting performance evaluations
•• Be a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) Designation
• Possess 3 plus years experience in a public accounting Firm, with experience in Audit, Review, Compilation and Canadian Tax experience.
• Possess a thorough understanding of GAAP/GAAS, ASPE, IFRS, CAS and CIS
• We believe in using technology to its fullest, so demonstrated experience with Microsoft Suite and Adobe Acrobat is important
• Proficiency with CaseWare, Taxprep, Cantax FormMaster
