ROLE RESPONSIBILITY:

We currently have a number of opportunities for Security Officers to join our team and be a part of our continued success. As a Branch Security Officer here in Southampton you will be at the very heart of our operation. Your primary duties will be all aspects of security at the branch, controlling the entry and exit of vehicles, employees and visitors to and from the branch. You will also need to work within the company procedural guidelines to ensure a high quality of service is consistently maintained with optimum efficiency. Due to the nature of the industry in which we operate, you will need to be confident working to stringent procedures within a highly regulated environment. This will ensure that our service remains superior and that our customers’ requirements are met with optimum efficiency.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

The Role:

As a Branch Security Officer you will be responsible for monitoring the CCTV systems, escalating security issues and liaising with all other departments and the National Control Centre, including raising the alarm in the event of an attack. You’ll take part in the operation of switchboard when required and control the entry and exit of vehicles, employees and visitors to, from and within the branch. In addition, you will:

• Carry out any other duties that are deemed reasonable and undertake training activities as required.
• Be aware of health and safety issues and ensure all employees are able to work in a safe manner.
• Liaise with other departments, branches, customers and suppliers, as appropriate, to resolve issues and maintain security and service.
• Ensure quality standards (5S) are consistently reviewed and adhered to.
• Follow well-defined procedures to ensure the security of the buildings.
• Be responsible for branch security, monitoring all areas of the location and escalating issues immediately.
• Be capable of opening and closing of the location (if applicable), carrying out airport style searches and be trusted with some access control information.

This role profile will be subject to change in accordance with departmental developments and the job holder’s expertise.

What makes a successful Branch Security Officer?

Firstly, you will need to be confident in communicating at all levels in both written and spoken English and following specific procedures and instructions. An appropriate level of numeracy is also very important as is the ability to work to tight deadlines. We are also seeking:

• Previous experience in monitoring and controlling security equipment would be extremely beneficial, as would experience using IT and computer systems.
• You must also be willing to undertake shift work
• You will need to be able to work as part of a team.
• Finally, you must be continuously focused on providing a top notch service to our customers by being efficient, flexible and at all times security conscious.

We also have some specific security criteria that you will need to meet:

• You must be able to pass a criminal record check as well as a personal credit and ID check.
• You must also have a 10-year employment/unemployment/educational history that we can check and verify.
• You will need to be prepared to undergo airport style searches when entering and leaving our premises and be comfortable working within a secure, confined and highly regulated environment.
