We’re looking for an experienced Scrum Master to join our evolving transformation function and help us set up and shape our new scrum chapter.
When we say this is an opportunity to ‘make your mark on’ we truly mean it. You’ll be influential in ensuring our emerging "scrum like" teams are following best practice in agile delivery approaches and culture.
You’ll work closely with your fellow Scrum Masters and colleagues in the development teams to drive our new ways-of-working implementation, making sure they are consistent across squads and that the that the same key processes are being followed.
You’ll also act as a mentor and coach for the less-experienced members of the team, supporting their development and helping to create an environment where they have the tools and knowledge to contribute to the success of the function.
Naturally you’ll enjoy the day-to-day role of being a Scrum Master, monitoring the scrum processes and scrum meetings and providing regular, transparent updates on the progress and efficiency of the squad.
You’re adept at removing blockages that can prevent the team from progressing, and as you’re comfortable speaking with stakeholders at all levels, you’re able to build a network that you can leverage when help is needed from other teams.
You will need to be a pragmatist, understanding business goals and the need to hit hard deadlines to be first to market and secure market share. You’re able to reconcile that with agile delivery methods.
How will I add value in this role?
Inspire and motivate the squad to achieve their sprint goals and to improve sprint on sprint
Focus on both the agile process and delivery to aid the team in delivering business value in a timely manner
Act as a servant/leader, however, retain a level of authority to be able to challenge timelines where deliverables are time sensitive
Work with the PO to understand the next quarters goals
Help the squad understand agile values and the benefits it can bring to our releases
Facilitating ceremonies for the team as required, ensuring objectives of each meeting are understood. This includes: Daily Stand Up, Sprint Planning, Sprint Retrospective
Promote the showcasing of potentially shippable products each Sprint
Understand the sizing of stories so you are able to challenge on progress against sprint goals and the bigger picture deliveries
Mediating the general conflict of goals between the development team (high technical quality) and business (more features) together with the development manager
Promote "shift-left" practices within sprints, e.g. BDD/TDD
What do I need in order to deliver in the role?
You’ll have a strong understanding of agile ways of working (and ideally you’ll have previous experience as a Scrum Master)
You’ll have experience of agile tools e.g. Jira, TFS
You’ll have the ability to influence multiple development teams, sometimes in a virtual environment
If you have experience of LeSS and SaFE agile, that would be ideal
