Location: Field based role covering Bristol area 

We’re recruiting for an ambitious Safety Health & Environment Co-ordinator to work closely with our depot management teams and the Logistics Safety leadership team to help create an environment that leads in safety and excellence producing highly consistent standards, data driven insights and site support that creates impact and drives change.

The Safety Co-ordinator’s role is to support the Regional SHE Manager in ensuring depots in the region remain legally compliant to the legislation and protocols applicable to the depots.

There are a number of network wide responsibilities that will apply to individual posts for example: to assist and take a lead at the direction of the Regional SHE manager/Logistics Safety Business Partner in relation to the administration and evaluation of the logistics division Safety and Environmental Management System (SEMS) evaluation and monitoring of compliance of environmental licences and permits; delivery of a project identified as a top risk by working groups; identification and delivery of online e-solutions and others.

 

More about the role:

 

  • Support the site and division in developing, implementing the business health and food safety strategy.
  • Work with the Regional SHE Manager and advise the depot’s management team to enable the logistics division to achieve their targets and objectives through role modelling the SHE standard
  • Through innovation and continuous improvement, support the positive change of cultural and behavioural activities, advising on the SHE strategy for risk reduction programmes which will be translated into reduced Harm, improved accident statistics and claim repudiation.
  • Audit and communicate the legislative health, safety and environmental requirements of the site through implementing any legislative changes and evaluating legal requirements.
  • Monitor the implementation of the findings of annual gap analysis to ensure all risk assessment types are completed.
  • Quality check, the suitability of risk and impact and aspect assessments. Ensure they are uploaded onto relevant systems and are reviewed when required
  • Interface with safety and environment regulators in absence of the SHE Manager (EHO & EA).

 

More about you:

 

  • Knowledge of Safety obtaining NVQ 3 or NEBOSH general certificate or higher (or working towards)
  • Food Safety and Hygiene Level 3 or higher would be an advantage
  • Experience in a Transport and logistics environment would be an advantage
  • Experience in communicating effectively external regulators
  • Grounding in OHSAS and ISO standards
  • Planning and prioritising skills.
  • Analytical and problem-solving experience.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft packages to include Excel, Power point and Word.
  • Experience of working within a team environment to achieve shared objectives.
  • Great communication skills, with the ability to translate data into effective and influential insight.
  • Own car and a valid driving licence with ability to travel between sites on a geographic region when necessary
  • Desirable - IEMA qualification or equivalent
