We’re looking for a Roading Engineer to join the Transport team of a local public sector organisation.

As the Roading Engineer you will work across all aspects of roading and will facilitate the effective management of the organisation’s roading infrastructure, ensuring improvement to the roading services network and associated infrastructure. You will support projects and scheduled maintenance and drive efficiency and cost effectiveness across the organisation’s roading activities.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Developing and managing the annual renewal programmes and physical works contracts, ensuring that work is completed by contractors on time, on budget and to a high-quality standard.
• Overseeing the development and delivery of small ad-hoc Transport projects as required.
• Providing advice and specification requirements to property owners and contractors, including accurate measurements and quotes.
• Providing technical roading advice within the Transport team and wider organisation as required.
• Contributing to the development and review of the organisation’s roading policy including standards and performance criteria.
• Establishing, maintaining and enhancing effective working relationships with key individuals, local community groups and relevant key stake holders.

You will bring to this role:

• Demonstrated experience in road engineering or a relevant discipline
• Knowledge and understanding of the provision of roading services
• Working experience with NZS3910 and NZS3915 contracts
• Knowledge of relevant road, engineering, NZTA and local government legislation, policies and processes as they apply to roading
