About the Team:

At VMO2, it is vitally important that the business is effective at identifying and realising opportunities which deliver value creation and preservation. Whilst in pursuit of these opportunities it is of equal importance that staff effectively manage risks which could negatively impact this desired value creation or put VMO2 in a deteriorated position. This is the purpose and importance of Risk Management, supporting value creation/preservation and ultimately helping improve the company’s position.

The Risk Team is an independent function which designs the Risk Management Framework & Process to enable the business to operate effective Risk Management, as well as providing an enterprise-level view of priority risks to senior management and key stakeholders.

The Risk Team forms part of the wider VMO2 Business Assurance team which also provides other independent assurance services, including internal audits and consulting services to improve our control environment.

About the Role:

As a Risk Management Transformation Manager within the VMO2 Risk Management Team you will work alongside your professional Risk colleagues to play a leading role in implementing a new and suitably tailored Risk Governance approach for VMO2 and its subsidiaries.

The position is pivotal to the team delivering against its transformation goals and timelines over the next 12 months. You will help us progress at pace, leading on key deliverables in challenging timelines. You will be highly visible and influential to all directorates; promoting VMO2’s new Risk Policy/process and being a trusted advisor on risk management transformation activities.  

A positive and collaborative approach that appreciates stakeholders’ requirements and high-quality delivery is fundamental to success.

Key Responsibilities:

• Co-deliver enterprise-wide Risk Management integration and transformation, a priority project stemming from the Joint Venture. You will be expected to:
  • Support and guide the transformation planning, prioritisation and delivery approach of the team - establishing tools/methods for effective planning and progress tracking.
  • Lead and deliver key integration activities to specification and deadlines, whilst working collaboratively (and managing expectations) with applicable stakeholders across the business.
  • Co-responsible for delivering the implementation, development, maintenance, and access controls of the VMO2 Risk Management Tool (RMIS). Plus subsequent data migrations from legacy tools.
  • Support the design & delivery of effective Risk Management practices/processes, that deliver value whilst being lean and sufficiently tailored to business operations. Includes leading the delivery of tools and documents which support these processes.
  • Promote a ‘Risk aware’ culture and knowledge of the Risk transformation journey and key milestones across all directorates. Including supporting the creation of risk management communications and education tools.
• Co-lead/support on facilitating an accurate and relevant Risk Register through:
  • Guidance, encouragement/coordination and appropriate challenge to the business on their reported risks. Including co-delivery of risk re-assessment project, in-line with the new risk management policy.
  • The delivery of Risk Reporting and Key Risk Indicators; which support the oversight of VMO2’s risks and related opportunities.
  • Developing a robust understanding of all directorates and their operations, in order to effectively support stakeholders in relation to their Risk Management.
• Support the Head of Risk Management in delivering timely, clear and pertinent view of VMO2’s risks to Senior Management, key forums/committees and Shareholders. Responsibilities include; planning, facilitation and challenge of risk information, report production, insight presentation, and updating risk information in the VMO2 Risk Management Tool.
• Light travel to HQ offices required for team meetings and stakeholder meetings as required

• No budget responsibility

• Strong reporting and data analysis skills - particularly with Excel and PowerPoint to manipulate and present insightful/influential information.
• Experience operating and delivering in an environment with important risk / internal control / governance / regulatory considerations.
• Excellent communications and presentation skills, to be able to inform and persuade both orally and in writing.

The following additional skills/experiences are highly desirable for this role:

• Previously in a Risk Management role
• Professional qualification in Risk Management
• Experience designing/improving Risk Management policy, framework and processes.
• Practical experience implementing a Risk Management framework effectively.
• Alternative comparable experience with the above points in a governance/compliance/internal control role.
• Understanding of pertinent Laws, Regulations and standards i.e. ISO31000, COSO, General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), FCA Regulation, Ofcom Regulations, Consumer Rights Act, etc.
• Strong commercial and business awareness.
