What you’ll do:

• Work as part of a team responsible for the support and delivery of projects across a large UNIX estate.

• Take ownership of problems and provide methodical technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with an ability to lead and manage investigation activities, troubleshooting and identify problems across different technology areas not just the core UNIX operating system.

• Build effective working relationships with a variety of infrastructure and application teams to ensure that technology and process improvements deliver overall service improvements to our end customers with a focus on innovation and identifying opportunities for standardisation and automation of manual processes.

• Show an understanding of the strategic technical direction of the company and industry and be able to participate and lead with technical solutions to match.

• Provide 24/7 on call support on a rota basis by responding to incidents, providing root cause analysis, and participating in High and Major Incident calls as well as post-incident wash-up meetings.

What you’ll bring:

• Viewed as an expert by your peers you should be able to demonstrate. An in-depth knowledge of UNIX.

• Advanced skills in automation technologies and programming languages. Ansible, Puppet, AWX/Tower, Perl, Python, Php.

• Good communication & relationship leadership skills. You should be able to clearly communicate details to others with the ability to get your point across to the other specialists you work with, communicating complex technical ideas to the target audience.

• Experience of automating the installation and configuration of UNIX operating systems and application software. Preferably with Ansible, AWX/Tower and Red Hat Satellite

• Understanding of enterprise virtual server and cloud environments, including networking, storage, and compute.

Livingston Watermark House:

Our lively campus is a free shuttle bus away from Livingston South train station and the town centre. Plus there’s onsite parking available for cars, motorbikes and bicycles.

You’ll be well fed at our subsidised canteen, and you can keep in shape at our onsite gym. Or play a game of pool or table tennis.

Leeds:

Our spacious tech hub is under a mile away from Leeds train station, with free water taxis available from Granary Wharf. There’s also plenty of parking in the surrounding streets and at the nearby CitiPark.

You can also blow off steam over a game of pool or table tennis, and stay fit at our subsidised gym.
