Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Law or equivalent practical experience
  • Qualified lawyer, with experience of trade compliance matters in private practice or in an in-house team in EMEA
  • Industry experience working with EMEA import laws and regulations

Preferred qualifications:

  • Industry experience working with the European Union, Middle East, or African import laws and regulations
  • Compliance experience working in a fast paced, high-tech environment
  • Knowledge of customs paperwork requirements
  • Excellent communication skills and highly team-oriented, with a flexibility and willingness to work on a broad variety of matters and issues

About the job

As Trade Compliance Counsel, you will be part of the team responsible for identifying and complying with import compliance requirements for Google’s EMEA operations. You will support a range of functional areas within Google and will be working for clients in Google offices globally. You will serve as a technical expert in the area of trade and work to create, maintain, and advise on policies and procedures in the region.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure trade compliance for the EMEA region by developing and implementing import policies, compliance measures, and procedures.
  • Determine regulatory requirements and/or certifications or other requirements for import of products into the EMEA region.
  • Identify potential risk areas for Google’s supply chains and advise on compliance processes and procedures to mitigate these risks.
  • Stay up-to-date on regulatory developments, participate in industry groups, and help to shape Google’s approach to trade compliance. 
  • Assist with the registration and readiness of entities to import into countries in the EMEA region.
