The Global Studios Technology group focuses on understanding Amazon Studios' workflows and seeking opportunities to design, implement and integrate cloud-based infrastructure, tools, and applications to automate, streamline, and optimize content creation operations. Are you ready to lead the European Studios Technology organization in delivering technology solutions and services to power the next generation studio? We’re looking for a regional Head of Studios Technology who thrives a fast-paced, agile, startup-like environment to be the regional single threaded leader for strategy and direction for our technology programs throughout Europe.

As a Regional Head of Studios Technology you’ll be a technical leader. You’ll govern Studios Technology’s overall strategy and execution relating to serving our European Studios, Corporate, Production and Post Production teams. You’ll work on Amazon Studios’ hardest problems and think globally when designing solutions, ensuring Studios Technology delivers high performing, scalable services that fit well together.

Studios Technology leaders are pragmatic visionaries who can translate business needs into workable technology solutions. Your expertise is deep and broad; you’re hands on, producing both detailed strategic plans and high-level customer engagement materials.

As a Studios Technology leader you’ll be expected to:

• Serve as a strategic lead on our most demanding, cross-functional projects.
• Functionally decompose complex problems into simple, straight-forward solutions.
• Fully and completely understand customer demand, inter-dependencies and limitations.
• Possess expert knowledge in production, post production and Studios content and associated data workflows.
• Effectively research and benchmark Amazon technology against other competing services in the industry in collaboration with Product teams.
• Assist in the career development of others, actively mentoring individuals and helping managers guide the career growth of their team members.
• Exert technical influence over multiple teams, increasing their productivity and effectiveness by sharing your deep knowledge and experience.

You are a visionary leader, builder and operator. You have experience leading or contributing to multiple simultaneous product development efforts and/or IT projects and initiatives in the Media and Entertainment domain. You are able to balance technical leadership and savvy with strong business judgment to make the right decisions about technology. You’ll strive for simplicity and will demonstrate significant creativity.

Key job responsibilities

The Regional Head of Studios Technology will serve as the in territory executive representative for all Technology organization programs, which include but are not limited to Production Technology, Media Engineering and Innovation, Technical Operations, Software Development, Content Security and Technology Communications. This leadership role will identify, build and maintain trust relationships with Studios, Production, Prime Video, AWS and appropriate third party partners. Additionally, this role will serve as the local Technology organizational leader, providing dotted line managerial responsibility to Studios Technology personnel located throughout this region. This role will serve as a core member of the Technology leadership team and as such, regular travel to the Studios HQ in Culver City is highly preferred.

The Studios Technology organization provides full spectrum services in support of the creative content making process at Amazon Studios and their directly associated business solutions. This team maintains an amazonian builder culture where we seek to innovate through the application of custom AWS based cloud solutions.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience leading the delivery of large-scale systems
• Technical expertise in at least one major technical area
• Experience in solving business and architecture problems.
• Project management experience.
• Experience with Agile Management (SCRUM, RUP, XP)
• Experience mentoring/training the engineering community on complex technical issues.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred qualifications

• Passion for customer experience and usability, including successful delivery of customer self-service tools and automated management/optimization of services, and a strong services orientation.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams including communicating with other technical teams, product management, and senior management.
• Hands-on experience with cloud-based computing/infrastructure (AWS, Azure, etc.
