Job Description

Collins Aerospace Wolverhampton produces a range of actuation systems for the aerospace industry using a variety of high tech machinery, plant & equipment. The Refrigeration Maintenance Engineer will be a key member of a multi- discipline maintenance team & will be responsible for maintaining uptime on all key refrigeration plant & site services. Reporting to the Maintenance Engineering Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out unplanned repairs on industrial, commercial and comfort air conditioning refrigeration systems.

  • Carry out planned maintenance on all refrigeration assets in line with manufacturers recommendations.

  • Ensure system leak checks are carried out in line with FGAS regulations.

  • Manage the scheduling and documentation around the planned maintenance and leak check activities.

  • Maintain the database of all refrigeration equipment ensuring the removal of redundant systems and introduction of new systems when required.

  • Manage the effective storage of HFCs and ensure that any waste HFCs are handled in line with FGAS regulations and the correct procedures are followed. Maintain and document relevant records.

  • Capable of performing a Multi skilled role & able to work on any Works Engineer type disciplines, training will be given if required.

  • Apply the most safe, efficient and effective methods available to keep key machinery available for production.

  • Liaise with external service and parts providers.

  • Assist in Root Cause Analysis of Breakdowns & identify improvement opportunities.

Experience and Skills:

  • Experience with refrigeration equipment in a service engineer role involving exposer in Inventory management, maintaining planning systems, and documentation.

  • NVQ or relevant qualification in air conditioning & refrigeration (including electrical repair)

  • F-GAS Regulations 2079-11 (Cat 1)

  • Customer originated and communicating with stakeholders

  • Comfortable working at height

  • A self-motivated problem solver offering a flexible approach to work as part of a team. 

  • Keen to participate in a continuous improvement and TQ focused environment.

  • Able to work using own initiative with the ability to keep calm under pressure and be adaptive to change.

  • Offering a methodical approach with a willingness to develop.

  • Mobile elevated work platform

  • Experience of working with liquid and gaseous nitrogen
