BDUK is a subsidiary of the Boeing Company and currently employs over 1,200 people in the UK. BDUK is responsible for delivering several exciting contracts to our UK defence customers including E-7 AEW&C, P-8A Maritime Patrol Aircraft, C4ISTAR Services, Through Life Support for the Chinook & Apache Fleets, Logistic Information Services and Training Services

Boeing Defence UK Ltd is looking to appoint a Quality Production Specialist (Avionic) with significant Chinook (CH47) maintenance background to support the modification and upgrade programme. The successful candidate will be responsible for both Quality Assurance and Inspection activities maintaining the effectiveness of the BDUK Quality Management System across operational sites. This role is full time and can be based at Gosport, Boscombe Down or Odiham with some remote working options.

BDUK’s Quality Management System (QMS) is approved by the MAA meeting the requirements of DAOS, MAOS and CFAOS approval schemes.The BDUK Quality system is also certified to ISO9001:2015, AS9100: D and AS9110:C. The company plans to extend these accreditations to new sites and seek additional ones in support of its diverse business needs. The Quality Production Specialist will be responsible for supporting compliance to Military Regulatory Publications (MRP) requirements and Aerospace / Industry standards through active engagement, oversight and assurance activities. The successful candidate will become a member of the wider BDUK Quality Assurance Team, supporting all areas of BDUK, reporting directly to the BDUK Vertical Lift Quality Manager. Day to day responsibilities are co-ordinated and managed through a Lead Quality System Specialist.

Responsibilities

Review & approval of Engineering Production Plans in support of aircraft / component maintenance and/or modifications

Conducting avionic inspections on Chinook CH47 aircraft in maintenance / modification performing ‘Quality Buy-offs’ iaw maintenance workorders

Conducting avionic inspections on DAS Harnesses / Mod Kits manufactured in-house under our AS9100 accreditation including performance of First Article Inspections (FAIs) and preparation of Certificate of Conformity (C of C) for release of components

Non-conformance management within the BDUK ERP System, ensuring that corrective actions are raised to rectify issues identified during inspection activity

Co-ordinating Flight Authorisation Certification / Engine Ground Running Certificate activities with Operations  / Defence Quality Assurance Field Force (DQAFF)

Physical aircraft inspections and documentation reviews

Acting as an avionic subject matter expert to technicians within the production and maintenance environment with respect to avionic installations and wiring practices

Support the training team with maintaining the standards of wire terminations. through Precision Termination Tooling (PTT) trade tests for avionic technicians

Supporting the BDUK Vertical Lift QA Manager in the preparation for external quality audits and formulation of any resulting action plans

Support with the management of Programme Quality requirements (as required)

Support company efforts to ensure that deliverables comply with customer, company, quality, industry and regulatory requirements

In addition the successful candidate will support the BDUK Quality Management System and its related processes through:

Documentation reviews of Quality Processes / Procedures

Metrics development (as required)

Internal auditing  to MRP and AS9100/9110 standards

Effective Corrective Action Plan (CAPA) management including:

Co-ordination &  facilitation of Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA)

Conducting Safety / Quality investigation (as directed)

Active participation within Continuous Improvement initiatives

Preferred experience and qualifications:

Recognised Aircraft or Aerospace Avionic qualification

Chinook maintenance experience

Chinook HC47 ‘Q’ Qualified or experienced

Qualified Internal Auditor

AS9100/9110 experience

MRP Regulatory knowledge

Held supervisory or 2nd Signature authorisations

Previous Rotorcraft knowledge and experience 

Work Authorisation: This position does not have sponsorship approval. This requisition is for a locally hired position in the UK. Security Clearance: This position requires the ability to obtain a UK security clearance for which the Government requires UK Citizenship
