Introduction:
The Boeing P-8 Poseidon Maritime Patrol Aircraft is a military aircraft developed by Boeing Defence, built on a modified design of the 737-800ERX. The Aircraft is fitted with equipment to tackle a diverse range of missions, including protecting submarines and reconnaissance missions. The platform was initially developed for the US Navy, first flown in 2009 and introduced in 2013. In 2019, the UK Ministry of Defence received the first of a fleet of nine P-8A Aircraft.
BDUK has been supporting the UK fleet as the exclusive Maintenance Repair Organisation (MRO) since its introduction as a key part of the Boeing Global Services P8 International team. While continuing to support the UK customer at RAF Lossiemouth under its own contract with the UK MOD, BDUK will also support our international customers as they enter their own fleets into service in the coming years.
As part of our continued growth supporting our customers, we are now looking for highly skilled aircraft maintenance professionals to join the team in 2021, supporting not only the UK Poseidon MRA Mk1 fleet, but also our international P8 customers across the globe. The team is based in Lossiemouth UK, but all new candidates must be able to work on assignment in foreign locations for extended periods of time as determined by the contracts Boeing are awarded. A likely location for assignment is Norway.
Position Description:
The Quality Engineer provides Quality Assurance and Compliance Monitoring of the P-8A Poseidon Programme. This is a key role in providing quality assurance against the BDUK Quality Management System (QMS), MRP Part 145 Regulations and AS9100/9110 standards, with responsibility for contribution to and maintenance of the current capability/approval/certification, or supporting the delivery of new ones, in line with company growth. A member of the Aircraft Programmes Quality function, reporting on Quality matters to the Aircraft Programmes Quality Lead and Quality Manager.
Responsibilities will include:
Review the suitability of Suitably Qualified and Experienced Persons (SQEP) of personnel, to allow relevant authorisations to be issued
Leading FOD initiatives and regular walk rounds of Hangar and component workshop
Conducting internal audits against MRP Regulations and AS9100/9110 standards
Undertaking quality and safety investigations
Non-conformance Management and inputting data into Boeing software tools
Supporting customer on site meetings with regards to Quality Occurrence Reports
Supporting Boeing Operations Management with regards to on site and contract Quality Assurance
Conducting and issuing an internal Flight Authorisation Certificate on aircraft that have completed maintenance under the Boeing MRP Part 145 Certificate, where contracted to fly aircraft allotted to BDUK, under CAFOS approval
Other Quality related tasks as directed by the Quality Team Lead and Quality Manager
Desirable Education/Experience
HNC in an Aerospace/Engineering discipline
Aircraft Maintenance Experience
Experience Aerospace / Defence background
Previous Fixed Wing or Rotorcraft knowledge and experience
Previous experience of Quality Assurance Management
Lead/ Internal Auditor AS9100 /ISO9001
Knowledge of MAA Regulations
Quality Management techniques
Continuous Improvement Techniques and Management
Work Authorisation: This requisition is for a locally hired position based in the UK, with a requirement to support international P8 contracts, typically on a 3-month rotation. Candidates must have current legal authorisation to work immediately in the United Kingdom. Boeing will not attempt to obtain Immigration and labour sponsorship for any applicants. Benefits and pay are determined at the local level and are not part of Boeing U.S. based payroll.
Security Clearance: This position requires the ability to obtain a UK security clearance for which the Government requires UK Citizenship.
Relocation: This position does not offer relocation. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.
