You’ll develop new mortgage propositions that meet customer needs and align to our ambition, purpose and financial plan.
Job Description
At Lloyds Banking Group, we have a clear purpose; to help Britain prosper and to become the best bank for our customers. What we do makes a genuine difference to families, businesses and communities, and we're playing a central role in building a growing UK economy.
Our brands, our services and our business span every aspect of banking and finance, including some of the biggest names on the UK's high streets. That gives us a big responsibility to support the UK economy, and we have a clear strategy to put customers first - and achieve our vision of becoming the best bank for customers.
In the Mortgages Customer Development team we listen to and understand the needs of customers, colleagues and brokers to find new ways to help customers buy and move home, reduce housing costs, access equity and act more sustainably.
The team is responsible for supporting the mortgages business in delivering Mortgages Open Book growth and hitting our external commitments to lend £10bn to First Time Buyers (FTB) as part of our Helping Britain Prosper commitments, through developing effective customer propositions and lending criteria. We work across multiple brands - Halifax, Lloyds, Birmingham Midshires and Scottish Widows Bank, supporting customers in both the direct and intermediary channels with new propositions and products.
We have a new opportunity to join the Customer Development team on a 12 month secondment/Fixed Term Contract, as a Proposition Manager. This is a crucial role within our Propositions team, and demands somebody with energy, ideas and the drive to take our propositions to a new level.
As a Proposition Manager you’ll develop new mortgage propositions that meet customer needs and align to our ambition, purpose and financial plan. You’ll strategically assess opportunities from a commercial, credit and conduct perspective, with an understanding of how to bring new products to market.
You'll work closely with Pricing, Operations, Risk, Legal and Transformation teams to help manage and coordinate a wide range of aspects as part of delivering for customers.
In this role you’ll:
Deliver medium scale projects or well-defined activity on larger projects to improve the mortgage proposition
Proactively maintain relationships with key stakeholders to identify business requirements and provide appropriate support and guidance
Build a deep and insightful understanding of customer behaviour, business requirements and market opportunity
Produce Governance papers that are both clear and compelling
About you:
We’re looking for an experienced product propositions professional who is articulate, confident and passionate about what they deliver. You’ll need to have a Financial Services background, ideally in Mortgages, although the latter is not essential.
Strong stakeholder engagement within scope of influence beyond own team, including building relationships with potential external partners, will be essential skills.
Also essential will be your effective verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to distil complex information (for example, Governance papers) and present back to senior audiences.
You’ll need to have proven experience of understanding, analysing, and using market data, regulatory challenges and competitor knowledge, to ensure our products and propositions are market leading and that we remain competitive.
Previous experience in product development is highly desirable.
Sound like your kind of place?
In return, as a multi-brand, multi-channel business, we have the scale and breadth to provide you with a diverse range of personal development and a career that’s enriching. We're dedicated to giving you opportunities and support to develop you both professionally and personally to optimise your potential.
We support the principles of agile working and will be pleased to consider applications from candidates seeking flexible working arrangements. The vacancy is based in London, and as a team we work flexibly following a hybrid working model, combining working from home with travel to the office in London as needed.
We're also passionate about diversity and equal opportunity with industry recognition across gender, ethnicity, disability, LGBTQ+ and families. And just let us know if you need any reasonable adjustments made to our recruitment processes, and we'll try to accommodate them.
So if you’d like to be part of an inclusive, values-based culture focused on making a difference, we’d love to hear from you. Whatever your aspiration, you can also expect excellent benefits, including a discretionary performance-related bonus, private health cover, share schemes, and a generous pension contribution, along with the option to choose an additional cash lump sum (4% of salary) or pick from a wide range of industry leading benefits.
Together we make it possible - join us and you’ll be part of an organisation that values your contribution and empowers you to make a difference.
