We have an exciting opportunity for a Proposals Engineer to join our Oil & Gas Detection & Control team based in Tyco Park, Manchester. This role involves the preparation and submission of proposals for fire & gas detection and control systems to meet our customers’ requirements as well as working side by side with our sales team to identify new opportunities.
How you will do it
As a Proposals Engineer you will review enquiries that typically includes the client’s technical specifications and commercial documentation. You will request additional information or clarifications as required and request extensions to the requested submission date if necessary.
You will prepare proposals documents in a timely manner to meet the agreed submission time and you will respond to comments and queries that the client may have both with respect to the technical and commercial parts of the proposal.
Depending on how the enquiry was received, client contact will be handled either directly or via one of our sales representatives.
The proposals document will describe a technical solution that meets the requirements as closely as possible and advise the client of any non-compliances. The document will also include details of material and engineering costs and information related to delivery times.
Good technical skills are needed to prepare compliant technical and cost-effective proposals. It is also essential that you have a good understanding of typical industrial requirements and solutions, particularly with respect to equipment to be used in hazardous areas.
You will be able to read equipment datasheets and technical descriptions and understand how various products can be used to meet the client’s requirements. As necessary you will liaise with key suppliers with respect to technical capabilities of the products offered and to obtain competitive quotes.
What we look for
Essential
Fire & Gas detection or control system engineering experience.
Previous experience working as a Proposals Engineer or in a similar role.
Minimum HNC/HND in Electrical / Electronic Engineering
Experience in interpreting client’s technical specifications.
Good working knowledge of Microsoft STD packages.
Good working knowledge of Fire & Gas detection equipment.
Good understanding of Software based systems.
Preferred
Experience of Tyco current Fire Detection systems.
Good understand of relevant standards and approval requirements.
Familiarity with hazardous area classifications and certifications.
AutoCAD design experience.
FS Eng (TUV certified).
Experience of Legacy Wormald Fire Detection panels.
Full UK Diving License.
