Description

Our client a high growth Real Estate Property Management firm based in central GTA has an immediate opening for a Senior Property Accountant. This is a the right opportunity for those looking to move to an entrepreneurial environment to fast track their career . Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Sr. Property Accountant is responsible for the following 

Accounts Receivable:

  • Enter leases for new tenants (residential and commercial), update renewing tenancies
  • Update and post rent rolls on a monthly basis
  • Prepare invoices and statements to tenants 
  • Create and transmit monthly EFT rent files to bank 
  • Process receipts and record in tenant ledgers

 

Accounts Payable:

  • Oversee the recording vendor invoices and review for accuracy
  • Calculate management fees payable and related chargebacks
  • Ensure accruals for recurring expenses/services and work orders are recorded

Banking/Cash Management:

  • Monitor bank activity and control cash flow in multiple accounts
  • Process transfer of funds between entities / intercompany transactions

 

General Ledger:

  • Record journal entries for the operating portfolio 
  • Reconcile sub-ledgers and control accounts on a monthly basis
  • Complete month-end
  • Record property acquisitions and/or dispositions
  • Process CAM/TMI Reconciliations
  • Set up new properties and entities
  • Add GL accounts and create account trees when needed
  • Reconcile intercompany balances on a monthly basis

HST Returns:

  • Prepare and file quarterly HST returns
  • Process HST payments to CRA ï‚·  Assist with HST audits

 

Budgets and Tenant Reconciliations:

  • Prepare detailed property budgets in collaboration with Property Managers
  • Integrate budgets from 3rd party managed properties
  • Prepare year-end tenant reconciliations in collaboration with Property Managers (commercial properties)

Reporting:

  • Prepare monthly and/or quarterly financial statements and/or reporting packages, including supporting schedules

 

Annual Financial Statements:

  • Prepare draft annual financial statements, including detailed working papers 

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience with commercial, retail and residential portfolio 
  • Solid knowledge of Yardi Genesis/Voyager
  • Strong analytical and excel skills
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision or as part of a team
  • Comfortable to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment, and manage competing priorities
  • Self-motivated individual with a positive attitude and strong communication and interpersonal skills
