Sydney Trains also operate the Rail Operations Centre and are responsible for the maintenance of assets including tracks, trains, signals, overhead wiring, stations and facilities. We conduct our operations in the community in compliance with the principles of ecologically sustainable development.

About the team

Major Works is the major brownfield construction hub at Sydney Trains. Providing Engineering and Maintenance work across the Sydney Trains Network. There are over 1000 staff in the directorate which operate in a fast paced multi-disciplinary project environment.

The opportunity

We are recruiting for two Project Managers to work across our Track and Systems teams in Major Works.

As a Project Manager in Track or Systems you will be leading highly complex and challenging projects as part of our Annual Works Program. You will be responsible for the physical and financial management and reporting for multiple projects as well as managing both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget. You will provide project management leadership to our Engineering, Works Management and broader project teams.

About you

You will have worked closely with multi-discipline stakeholders to support the delivery of complex infrastructure projects. You will work with tight deadlines and high volumes of work. To be successful in this role you will also have experience in project delivery and/or engineering works, (preferably in a Infrastructure/Rail environment – this will be highly regarded). You will have experience managing projects that required you to undertake an assurance function and drive consistent and effective performance management through influencing key stakeholders and contractors alike.

You will be a champion at supporting transformational change and dealing with potential resistance to change from both internal and external stakeholders. You put safety at the centre of every decision and understand the complexity of Project Management in a high risk environment!
