About us
Transport for NSW keeps our State moving by providing safe, integrated and efficient transport systems. We put our customers at the centre of everything we do – and we do a lot. We connect people, communities and industry and manage how they use our road, rail and maritime networks and services, and even active modes like walking and cycling. The work we do connects the journeys you take every day.
We are a state government organisation made up of more than 28,000 people and we're in the middle of delivering the largest transport infrastructure program in Australia's history. We work across planning, policy and procurement, harnessing data and technology to develop smarter and more adaptive transport solutions.
That means job opportunities in metropolitan and regional areas right across NSW – you have the chance to be part of creating a lasting legacy that will benefit generations to come.
The Division
The Regional and Outer Metropolitan division engages with our customers and communities. We connect regional NSW with safe and tailored transport choices, and contribute to strong economic growth and sustainability across the state.
The Opportunity
Right now, we have a fixed-term full time Project Engineer opportunity available within our Regional and Outer Metropolitan Division. As a Project Engineer you will be responsible for delivering projects for the Maintenance & Delivery, Traffic Facilities, Signs & Markings team.
We place a high priority on making safety paramount, both for the people working on our project sites and for customers travelling through them. In delivering our work, we work closely with our stakeholders and customers to ensure their views are heard and considered.
What you will be involved in:
Managing the project and delivery process including the delivery of direct control teams to successfully undertake road maintenance projects and ensure projects are developed and delivered to agreed time, cost, quality and scope requirements.
Implement effective cost management systems to ensure effective financial management of projects.
Managing the project planning, monitoring and reviewing of ongoing maintenance works programs to make effective use of resources and deliver agreed objectives.
This is a fixed term full time opportunity to June 2024.
About you
You will have excellent communication skills both written and verbal. Ideally, you will be highly driven with a can do attitude, the ability to adapt quickly to an ever changing environment and a willingness to continually learn and embrace new working methodologies.
You’ll enjoy good stakeholder engagement and ready for challenging work across multiple project locations, and have demonstrated leadership skills and proven ability to work autonomously as well as capable of being flexible in regards to the projects and project milestones and objectives.
You have a four year civil or related engineering degree and knowledge of the technical aspects of materials, equipment and techniques used in road, bridge and other related traffic infrastructure construction and maintenance.
Ideally you will be located in Sydney, Newcastle/Hunter or the Wollongong region, in order to engage with the teams that the role supports. However we have offices at a number of locations and encourage people regionally based in New South Wales to apply as we have flexible working arrangements available.
A willingness to travel throughout NSW is essential as you will be joining a state-wide team and regular engagement with the regional based teams is required.
