At Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga - Ministry of Education, we work to provide services and support nationally, regionally and locally to the education sector, and in some cases, directly to ākonga and whānau.

We help shape the policies, settings and performance of the education system for early learning, schooling and tertiary. We do this by building relationships and understanding the needs of those who receive our services.

About us Te Puna Hanganga, Matihiko - Infrastructure and Digital - Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga - Ministry of Education, leads inclusive, accessible and integrated national, digital and physical infrastructure and transport services to the education system.

Our vision for school property is that all schools have quality learning environments as part of a well-managed and sustainable portfolio that helps deliver equitable and excellent outcomes for every child.

The Capital Works Group (CW) manages Ministry led school construction projects across New Zealand. The projects include new schools, school rebuilds, major/minor redevelopments, addressing roll growth needs, weather-tightness remediation, structural strengthening and minor works.

Mō tēnei tūranga - About this role

You will be part of a collaborative team providing day to day operational, financial and administrative support across the Capital Works delivery team who are spread across the central North Island. This includes the coordination and analysis of data, ensuring its quality and key deadlines are met. The role is supporting a Auckland based professional property delivery team who are managing the delivery of multiple Capital works projects

You will be someone who is both great with people and time management. A positive and can do attitude is a must. As this is an autonomous role the skill to encourage people to contribute in a timely manner will be key to your ability to meet regular and ad hoc deadlines. Your flair for organisation sees you keeping dependable records of progress, approvals and other relevant documentation.

Your desire to contribute to business improvements, combined with your initiative, will also see you take collaborative action to improve reporting processes as necessary.

You will also offer the following:

  • Previous experience providing administrative/ coordination support to a busy team
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and work to deadlines effectively
  • Advanced skills and knowledge of the Microsoft Suite.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • A track record of working effectively in a virtual team as a self-directed and proactive team player
