High Performance Computing Architecture Researcher - 126426

The Role:

AMD Research is an entrepreneurial research organization with a strong track record of driving research innovations into AMD products. We are a global leader in the development of the world’s most advanced high-performance computers (HPC), such as El Capitan, the world-leading 2 exaflop supercomputer.

We are looking for a researcher to drive our long-term vision in architectures for heterogeneous compute environments. In this role, you will advance the state of the art and deliver innovations to product teams that address tomorrow’s needs today.

You cannot stop inventing, implementing and validating new ways to increase computing efficiency and performance. Does this describe you? If so, then join us!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze performance limitations of current and planned hardware; conceive of optimizations and new features to accelerate the performance
  • Implement innovative software and/or hardware solutions and demonstrate their effectiveness analytically and in simulation
  • Drive the results of the research projects into product roadmaps
  • Submit patentable inventions
  • Clearly communicate research results to academic, product and commercial audiences

Required Skills:

  • Deep understanding of computer architecture fundamentals
  • Demonstrated experience in performance and power analysis and processor simulators
  • Solid understanding of memory system architectures and optimizations
  • History of issued patents that are embodied in successful products
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong programming skills in C++ and Python

Additional Experience Desired:

  • CPU and GPU hardware measurements
  • Deep knowledge of advanced statistics and machine-learning techniques.
  • Experience with Automated design space exploration is a strong plus.
  • Experience in reliability, circuit design, and power modeling is a plus.

Academic Credentials:

  • PhD degree or equivalent accomplishments in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering or related field preferred
