This is an extremely exciting time to be joining the Barnardo's Health Directorate. We have just developed an ambitious Health Strategy for the organisation and are growing and forming a dynamic new team, with a focus on what we need to deliver over the next 3 years to become an integrated Health & Social Care charity.
We are looking for a Programme Manager to lead and develop our health inequalities programme, as a member of the DHSC and NHS England Health and Wellbeing Alliance. This role will be responsible for programme management of the children and young people's consortium and our collective contribution to the Health and Wellbeing Alliance work. It will involve working closely with national policy leads to amplify the voice of vulnerable children and young people. This role will also oversee a supporting programme of health inequalities projects.
The Programme Manager position is ideal for candidates who have experience of working with communities at a practical level. It suits people who have worked in or with the NHS but are now looking for a new challenge and seeking a role that delivers transformational change at scale and pace. For candidates with a health background, joining the voluntary sector can offer more flexible working with high degrees of autonomy and independence. It is a dynamic sector, often leading the way with new ideas and innovative solutions. In this role you will develop a deep understanding of the needs of children, young people and families which will enable you to creatively design, plan and deliver outcome-focused programmes. It is a fantastic opportunity to be closer to the action, where you will see the real difference, you make to the lives of children and young people.
You will need to be a driven and dynamic team player who has proven ability to support and influence project implementation and gained experience working within a range of health sectors and health stakeholders. The role requires both broad stakeholder and community engagement, and the ability to influence within organisations, systems and at a national level. The role will involve the successful production of accessible reports, papers, project plans, risk assessments and management information.
This new role will form part of the new Health Directorate and is a fantastic opportunity to be involved in supporting transformational change to make a real difference to the lives of children and young people.
At the present time, this role will be 100% remote, with some travel in the future to regional hubs to provide programme support or to attend meetings.
This post is currently fixed term and is linked to the funding for the project, which is anticipated may be extended for a further period.
