What you’ll do:

Ensure there is a robust case for the programme/project pre initiation that can be tracked as you progress through delivery

Own the initiation and set up of the programme/project, ensuring alignment with delivery partners

Lead the team on defining the delivery approach, structure and how they will work as a team – get them set up for success

Build and maintain good working relationships with delivery partners and stakeholders in order to be able to pull levers where and when necessary

Be prepared to be involved in a wide variety of activities across various levels/depths, from meetings to writing business requirements

Work proactively to unblock any issues facing the team, rolling your sleeves up to get things done as necessary

When things go wrong (which they will do), pull the team together to agree and support a realistic recovery plan

Lead and manage people to realise and lean into their full potential and balance this with delivery needs

Connect people to our department vision and culture, role modelling the encouraged behaviours and our leadership principles

Lead/contribute to the wide variety of department activities that make the department a great place to work

What you’ll bring:

Know who you really are as a leader of people – be authentic with this

Have the courage to lead and challenge at the most senior level – trusting your gut is super important

One team approach is key – lead from the front with this across all our delivery partners

You’ll be balancing lots of contending priorities, both delivery and department so you need to be skilled and calm in dealing with this and own the team accordingly

There will be a lot of escalations that will come your way, so a curious and consistent mindset is key, especially when leading your people and dealing with stakeholders

Seeing the bigger picture and joining the dots for the team is also important – help them see what’s not obvious

Be proactive across both delivery and people activities – roll up your sleeves where its needed as your people and stakeholders will appreciate it

Flexibility in your delivery leadership style is important as no 2 projects or people are the same

Our Osterley Campus is a 10-minute walk from Syon Lane train station. Or you can hop on one of our free shuttle buses that run to and from Osterley, Gunnersbury, Ealing Broadway and South Ealing tube stations. There’s also plenty of bike shelters and showers.
