Summary of Role

Raytheon UK is looking for a dynamic and ambitious Programme Engineering Manager, to work within Raytheon’s Power Business. Reporting to the Senior Programme Engineering Manager, you will be accountable and responsible for the delivery and execution of Engineering Programmes. This stimulating role offers excellent development opportunities and the chance to work alongside our highly skilled technical team. The ability to work on projects from initial concept stage, developing the concepts through to final production units. The successful candidate will be responsible for helping to develop and maintain our world class power product portfolio and technical roadmap.  This is a complex and challenging role that will be highly rewarding, with extensive communication and interfacing requirements with key stakeholders, demanding excellent interpersonal skills and high levels of energy and stamina. The work location will primarily be based at our Glenrothes or Livingston facilities with frequent visits to other customer sites in the UK and occasional travel to the US. 

Main Duties

  • Leadership and Management of engineers within the Power electronics team.
  • Leadership and Management of the lifecycle of Programme Management, from concept through to production units.
  • Planning and executing Programme delivery to schedule, cost and customer requirements.
  • Tracking and Reporting Programme status on schedule, cost and technical status whilst managing the associated risks and opportunities within the Programme.
  • Risk Management for all Engineering deliverables, including effective mitigations and monitoring to reduce of risk or closure.
  • Leading future bids from a technical, schedule and cost perspective
  • Close liaison with other functional departments to ensure Programme delivery milestones are kept on track.
  • Ensure all phases of the engineering lifecycle are subject to Peer Reviews and Gate Reviews in accordance with the development plan and that problems and issues are resolved in a timely and effective manner.
  • Supporting Business Development in their roles of securing new business and setting strategy for the business.
  • Supporting Process evolution and continued improvement.

Candidate Requirements

Essential

  • BSc / BEng. In Engineering, Electrical or Aeronautical Engineering.
  • Proven expertise in managing delivery of complex multi-disciplined development programmes, using discretion in tailoring effectively to meet challenging programme needs.
  • Good understanding of the Engineering lifecycle of product development.
  • Strong Leadership and Management credentials to ensure you inspire, motivate, lead, manage and get the best out of diverse team of highly competent engineers.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to collaborate internally and externally with customers.
  • High level Emotional Intelligence, allowing for increased awareness of self and team members to facilitate a successful team
  • Critical Thinking to enable flexibility and the prioritisation of tasks, whilst making the right decision at the right time.
  • Willingness to learn and evolve as an Engineering Manager.

Desirable

  • Experience in different Project Management techniques, such as, Earned Value Management, Schedule Risk Analysis, Risk Management
  • Experience using Microsoft Project.
  • Good understanding of Electronic Engineering, ideally within the Power switching and distribution sphere.
  • Strategic thinker, who is able to understand and appreciate the ‘Big Picture’, thereby, understanding the decisions you make and the 2nd and 3rd order effect to the wider business.
  • Experience within engineering procurement and/or finance functions and supply chain would be advantageous
  • Recognised formal Project Management accreditation and/or qualification.
